Former Alberta Premier Jim Prentice has died in a plane crash in British Columbia, news site iPolitics said on Friday, citing unnamed sources.

Authorities could not immediately confirm the news. But Canada's Transportation Safety Board and the RCMP said they are investigating the wreckage of a downed aircraft traveling to Calgary, Alberta, which crashed shortly after its takeoff from Kelowna, British Columbia, on Thursday night. Local media reported the plane was a corporate jet and four people on board had died.

My wife's boss was one of the other passengers.

He's an optometrist and ran/owned a practice in Calgary.  Very sad times

I have a nephew who lives in Kelowna. When you first hear the news, your heart skips a bit.

Sorry to hear about that. Must be tough on your wife.

Yeah she's not handling it very good. They closed the office when they found out this morning and the employees are all now just spending time together.

You really never know when it's your time.

Truly sorry to hear that, prayers are with her and the family

I wonder if this was a typical "Small plane" which I refuse to ride on.

A friend of mine, Jane H, was Killed on the Kelowna to Calgary run about 15 years ago.

I wonder if it was something to do with the weather?

I find my self asking why so many of us know someone who has died in a small plane crash? Too many, I would encourage anyone to question whether riding them is worth it.
