Do we green light JB for any trades involving the Flames?

Baerschi was one of the bright spots from last year and has seemly taken another step this year solidifying himself in the top 9.  Granlund joined us last year and treaded water on the fourth line.  This year however he to has seemingly, early on, also solidified a top 9 if not a top 6 spot.

JB, if you are looking to trade for anymore fringe players in the Flames system...

GO FOR IT!

You don't win them all regardless.

Granlund imo is an NHLer - Shink could still be.

But I do trust Benning's amateur and pro scouting.  He's a boss - and his trades are an extension of his strengths as a scout imo.  He obviously has some well-founded reasons to value Weisbrod's input - and T Green's - where player evaluation is concerned.  Weisbrod is a favorite whipping boy around here - among people who dwell dishonestly on failures alone.  He's had his successes as well, no doubt.

Every GM is going to lose trades though - and the more you make, the better the odds.

Benning has lost a trade or two and he'll lose more, but the important thing imo is that he wins more than he loses, and he's making the volume of trades necessary to reshape the franchise.

I think he's doing a pretty good job on the balance.

I would still say its early days to judge...but I would do those trades..even as one big trade.... Baertschi and Granlund for Shinkaruk and a 2nd.

Flame fans are all over Treliving as the new GM messiah..is he ever going to get called out on anything.?...The Flames team that beat us in the playoffs a couple of years ago was essentially Feasters team.

I still feel a bit uneasy about the Shink for Granlund trade, I'm worried about Granlund turning out to be a Vey-like player. That said, I was impressed with his game last night: Produced and looked dangerous several other times. He wasn't affraid to go to the net either.

I wouldn't say any trade... but fricks sakes people can finally lay off Weisbrod now

True. If I'm a cowgary fan tho I'd be more worried more about Tkachuck. He's certainly not anywhere near the threat he was made out to be, at least so far in pre-season and 3 real games.

The difference is Vey maybe had a shot like that once a year, not once per night.

Maybe more that once a year, but I get your point. Don't get me wrong, I like Granny and hope he does well, but I'm going to cautiously wait and see for a while longer before I'm convinced we won the trade.

Even the Kesler trade is looking pretty good....actually great....if someone wouldnt mind breaking it down again.

Correct me it was

Kesler for Bonino, McCann and Sbisa...right.

Bonino became Sutter

McCann became Gudbranson

I know there was some minor picks involved but Id say its all worked out pretty much in our favour.
