Only 2 teams now no regulation losses. Guess who..

Teams left at 100% points attained per game.

Florida   2 games 4 points   OUT

Tampa Bay 2 games 4 points IN

St. Louis 3 games 6 points  OUT

Colorado 2 games 4 points  OUT

Arizona 1 game 2 points   OUT

and our very own Vancouver Canucks. 3 games 6 points.

The list will go down to 4 teams for sure tonight.  Van plays STL  and Tampa plays Florida.

Always nice to be in a positive position.  What I can't believe is that this list isn't larger.  To be roughly 2.5 games average into the season and so many other teams are off to poor starts.

Well here is to us being one of the 4 teams left after the game tonight.

EDIT AFTER GAME 3.  we are still in it.

Tampa Bay  3 games 6 points  Next versus Colorado (2-1-0)  in Tampa Bay

Vancouver Canucks 3 games 6 points Next versus  Buffalo (1-1-1) in Buffalo

EDIT AFTER GAME 4

We are the last team with an unblemished record.   Not to many fans thought this would happen.  Caught some flack for starting the thread but Wooo-hooo.

***Anyone know if we have ever been the last team still running at 100%  (I don't want to jinx it by using certain words lol)

AFTER GAME 5

Great job by the boys to scramble back and get it to OT.  What great character.  More points salvaged by never say die work ethic.

One of two teams left with no regulation defeats.  Us and Montreal.  Well I am stoked.  Lets keep it going boys

This topic needs to go away. I'm all for positivity but it's two games into the season!

It's like looking at Matthews' first game and then making a post over how he'll win the scoring title and how he is the points leader and beating out more established players like Kane, Crosby and Ov.....ya, one game.

I understand the folks on here who want to be a bit conservative in their enthusiasm at this early juncture of the season...BUT...let's not forget how the so-called "expert" critics (ie/ uber Eastern-biased parrots) have us doing so poorly this year. Contrast that with the fact that many of us who follow the Canuck's players regularly (and more in-depth) would love to shove a hockey stick up their collective nether regions, and it's easy to see why we're pretty excited this early on.

Typically it is the younger average aged teams that seem to get off to quicker starts, so to see our veteran team stickin' it to those younger teams early on does give one a basis for some hope...just imagine how good the Tre-Kronor line will look after the 20 game mark!

Obviously the single biggest factor for the Canucks success this year lies with the Sutter line (see below)...will that line give us a 2nd scoring line that takes the pressure off of the Swedish triplets. Add in BoHo's line and we might actually have 3 scoring lines (balanced attack)...something that we didn't have last year and obviously something that the "experts" didn't count on when they "counted" us out so early on. So inasmuch as our fanbase is hoping for a positive season based on just a couple of games I feel the "critics" will be eating some crow based on their assumptions of our team long before the season even started.

So back to Sutter...he's our X-Factor this season. As one analyst described him: "he's like a free UFA pickup for the Canucks this season in that they didn't have his services for much of last season"...so again, the "critics" have made some pretty big assumptions about the failings of the Canucks without answering some basic roster questions first:

1/ Impact of Gudbranson

2/ Effectiveness of Eriksson

3/ Resurgence of Sutter

4/ Stability of the Miller/Markstrom tandem

5/ Sedin twin's conditioning/compete level at their age (no one has seen them play yet at their age = new territory)

And finally

6/ Anton Rodin...we haven't even seen him play yet so how can we know what his overall contribution will be.

In my books that's FAR TOO MANY what-ifs on the season thus far to even begin to realize how this is going to play out. But again we have to understand the enthusiasm of so many many based upon the negativity surrounding this year going in...I for one am with the positive crowd...I think we can make the playoffs this year and then from there...well who knows?

Yet the Eastern media seems to conveniently ignore the what if's of other clubs.

- What if the young guns on the Leafs falter?

- What if the defence on Edmonton stays poor?

- What if the Goaltending in Edmonton, Toronto or Calgary stays shaky?

Other teams have a lot of what if's too, it's just Vancouver's what if's in the hockey crowd doesn't get ignored because we don't have high end young stars.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

I feel that our team has worked hard to gain the two wins we have, but both games could have gone either way.  We hardly powerhoused through either, though I believe our team has been well balanced through these two games.  I feel that we have noticeably more players contributing than we have in recent years, which hopefully will help take the load off the Sedins.  (Which is good, because to be honest I've found them less impressive this year so far.  Granted, they had limited preseason experience to shake off the rust).

It certainly would be nice if we won tonight and our team became one of only a couple that were lossless.  I was near certain our team would perform far better than the "experts" believed, but the sooner we can throw it back in their faces, the better.

Thanks for sharing.  Still an early season though.  The Blues swept last year's season series and were relentless at one point peppering the Canucks with 50 shots.  Miller or Markstrom, stay alert!

Before last year though, we've been recently fairly good at beating the Blues

I wouldn't spank the monkey too hard just yet.  Both games needed extra time to get it done against mediocre teams.  We already know that the Canucks aren't the worst team in the league, not even a bottom 5 team, but they also aren't a playoff team.  It sucks but it is what it is....
