Thought this deserved a thread as it only the second time in nucks history they have used a ubc emergency backup goaltender.

1040 is of coarse making this thier main story today, and i must admit it must be pretty sureal for matt hewitt.

New wests very own Matt Hewitt (23 years old), is an undrafted former regina patt , and is currently the starter for the ubc thunderbirds

Miller unexpectedly came to practice " feeling a bit tight" and is unavailable for tonights game. Hopefully he feels better soon

Thunderbirds coach said that hewitt , when told he was getting the call up, said. "Coach, this is my dream come true".

Good luck matt. Enjoy the game

Which of Miller and Markstrom is not ready to go?  What's wrong with him: baby, injury, flu??

Chris Levesque not available?

Hahahaha, man we are old. I was just thinking of that guy too.  Remember when Johan Hedberg went racing out to get an open puck and got kneed in the head. Then they pan to Levesque on the bench vigorously chewing his gum with a look of dread on his face.

Yes.  I wonder what his heart rate was.  I think if he did have to go in net, he would have fainted as soon as he stood up.

Lol. Ya. Pretty sure this will be the biggest game of his life , and he probably wont even play

Still pretty exciting for Matt. I am sure he will enjoy the experience and will remember it for a long time. Always a good story when a local kid gets called in as an emergency backup.

"A bit tight" for Miller actually does not sound good. Especially after he had such a great first game. Hope he is okay, but if it is his groin it could be a problem going forward.

Does the mean Miller is out tonight? If so, that sucks. That guy is in zone, and you'd know he would play hard against both the Blues and Sabres, his former teams.  Markstrom needs to get better fast.

Yes miller is out obviously
