Waivers: JARRED TINORDI ARI

http://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/jarred-tinordi-hits-waivers-arizona-coyotes/

Former first round pick defenseman Jarred Tinordi has had a rough go of it the last two years.

Now, things are continuing to go poorly for him – as he’s been placed on waivers by the Arizona Coyotes.

The Coyotes exposed the 6 foot 6 defenseman to waivers on Friday morning, giving the other 29 NHL clubs a 24-hour window in which to claim him before he’ll be eligible for reassignment to the minors. If no teams place a claim for him by noon on Saturday, the Coyotes can place him in Tucson with the AHL’s Roadrunners, giving him a chance to play his first game in what’s nearing on a year.

The rumor out of the 2010 draft was that Gillis wanted to drafted Tinordi if he was available at 25. Because he wasn't, that was what set the trade for Ballard in place.

As I recall, that was the plan. That was a weak draft class in general. As much as we overpaid for Ballard, at least we did it in a weak draft class.

That would've been better IMO

saved that Ballard cap room, had grabner and a d prospect in tinordi and used that cap space from Ballard to acquire secondary scoring at deadline that could've pushed us over the top

I don't think that's entirely accurate Monty.

Because he wasn't available they opted to include that 1st instead of deferring to the next year's 1st.

The Ballard trade was already in place - it was a matter of which 1st would be included.

Still would've had Ballard over Tinordi, Grabner and whatever else we gave up. Ballard provided strong depth at the time, making our D corps the best in the NHL according to Barry Trotz at the time who was the coach of arguably the best D corps in the Nashville Predators. Hate to bring it up, but we really had such a dominate team. Sucks we were never able sustain that success and fell off a cliff after two seasons.

Hypothetically, what could Schneider, Hodgson, and a 1st have gotten us?
