Disgruntled Jake Virtanen interview

So , herd his latest interview today , and virtanen seems to be very unhappy with willie s line juggling and ice time allotment.

Some highlights :

" when you dont know who you are going to play with its hard to get going.

When ur on the ice for 7 minutes a game its hard to get into a groove. The lines seen to change nightly somtimes.

Play a shift then sit for 12 minutes makes it hard.

Doesnt understand why he s not playing with baer and horvat.

Knows he has to earn it , but not happy at all being shifted around , not being able to develope proper chemistry.

Willie " put the guys on the ice he thought he could win with"

I was actually shocked at how candid he waz. I think everyone was.

Not really a good sighn in the jake virtanen saga.

1040 talked about this allot today obviously. Some suggested he shouldnt have said that , some think he was bang on and had the right , some also thought its a product of the team having no clue what direction they are really going in and need to focus on developement not " winning now and try and develope at the same time.

Thoughts?

Canucks forwards right now really seem to be is disarray.

Hopefully the forwards can play a solid 60 min game next time.  Really need to see line 1 and 2  start to pick up the pace and get some scoring..

I agree. I think its good jake is pissed to be honest.  I hope they actually give him some rope for longer then a game or two.

Im willing to bet it wasnt just him being annoyed with the coach

Men that Bo and Jake difference is so big, but I think Jakes reaction is how most people would feel, maybe even Bo felt that way.

I don't think Jake in a place to complain, he does play really really short shifts compare to all the players we have even brendan gaunce and skille stays out for atleast awhile, might be the translation from you but he sounded whiny.

Somebody should tell him there's the AHL if he wants to be playing atleast 15 mins a game, sure they're losing but hey they're developing. Green is also highly touted around here so he won't be someone difficult to understood.

I herd the bo interview as well about the 4th line placement before game one. Donny noticed that when they asked if he was shocked he wasnt playing with baer he sorta paused. He said he was lookijg forward to playing with baer because they had chemistry and was exoecting to play with him , but then took the high ground and did a good job of pumping up his new linemates. U could tell he wasnt thrilled thoiugh

Lidster is doing well with the D. Jarvis some good neutral zone and PP ideas. Willie? All he needs to do is leave Loui with the twins, Baer-Bo-Jake together, and juggle the bottom 6 depending on the night for speed or toughness. But no, now we have issues with all our young players due to WDs goofy deployment. At least thats how I see it.

Jake is right. And so is Willie - he said the NHL isn't a "development league" and he's doing all he can to make that a reality.

Well he is right.

But is it acceptable for a struggling 20 year old with clear entitlement issues to act the way he just did, even if he may be right about the coach's flaws?

Imagine if every struggling player just blamed the coach. That would set a great example for young players in the future.
