pushfrog7
So with the Canucks coming down to earth a little bit (a part of me was expecting them to go 82-0-0 ... just a part), I wanted to take a look at how this October is stacking up with the Canucks' recent Octobers': October 2016 Record: 4-3-1 (9 Points in 8 Games) Points per Game: 1.125 Goals For: 14 (and 1 SO Win) Goals For per Game: 1.75 Goals Against: 18 (and 1 SO Loss) Goals Against per Game: 2.25 October 2015 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015–16_Vancouver_Canucks_season) Record: 5-2-4 (14 points in 11 Games) Points per Game: 1.27 Goals For: 30 (and 1 SO Win) Goals For per Game: 2.73 Goals Against: 25 Goals Against per Game: 2.27 October 2014 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014–15_Vancouver_Canucks_season) Record: 7-3-0 (14 points in 10 Games) Points per Game: 1.4 Goals For: 33 (and 1 SO Win) Goals for per Game: 3.3 Goals Against: 29 Goals Against per Game: 2.9 October 2013 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013–14_Vancouver_Canucks_season) Record: 9-5-1 (19 points in 15 games) Points per Game: 1.27 Goals For: 40 (and 1 SO Win) Goals for per Game: 2.67 Goals Against: 40 (and 1 SO Loss) Goals Against per Game: 2.67 Takeaways (Defence): - So far, even with the 4 game losing streak, the Canucks are actually surrendering the fewest amount of goals in the past 4 Octobers - Even if Washington scores 2 goals tomorrow night, the Canucks will still have surrendered the fewest amount of goals in the past 4 Octobers Takeaways (Offence): - So far, the Canucks are not scoring as well as they should on paper and are scoring the fewest amount of goals per game in October since the 2004-2005 lockout - To match their lowest Goals For per Game in the past 4 Octobers, the Canucks will have to score 10 goals against Wash... yeah, that's not happening Takeaways (General): - A win against Washington will still give us the lowest Points per Game in recent Octobers, but would essentially put us on par with October 2013 and October 2015 - We're only 8 games into the season, which is a ridiculously small sample size

1-d
I won't be panicking since my expectations for this season was all-time low. ... I do wish I could send a few packing tho.
SaintPatrick33
This team needs elite scoring forwards. JB shored up the D quite well with some savvy picks and our goalies are above average. JB cant do much unless we somehow lucked out in the top 3 the past two drafts, or one of his trades (Bear, Vey etc) turned into a stud. We are handcuffed for a few years at least, Boeser right now is the only one showing he has elite scoring potential suited for the NHL.

Nonsense, Benning got the 6th overall pick gifted to him and he bungled it. Nylander was the obvious choice, the fanbase knew it, the media knew it. Everyone knew it but they picked a player with very little scoring potential.
Junkyard Dog
What's the point of panicking? If the team is not good enough for the playoffs then they will be bad enough for a top pick.

DollarAndADream
Not even 10 games played yet. I will panic at nothing, except maybe the disco.
Kakanucks
Yea, what's the point of panicking? Either the team surprises everyone and bounces back, we get good hockey and a chance for the cup by making the playoffs. Or, they are just not good enough and will end up with high picks, which seems to be what all the panickers want anyways. So why panic then? Can't draft high picks and have good hockey at the same time.

Davathor
OP - you can't praise "fewest total goals" in the last 4 October's when we play the least amount of games. I think the scariest thing is we could have EASILY lost those OT games and been the worst in the league by a lot. It's like 1-d said though - really shouldn't be such a shock to a lot of you, we were predicted worst in the league by people who get paid to watch, predict and review hockey.
