[Report] Canadiens to target defender via trade, send Sergachev down

Recommended Posts

I would listen to offers for any dmen besides Stetcher and Juolevi. We have the depth to fill in for just about any of them and we badly need scoring up front. So I'd consider just about anything right now. I'd obviously hate to give up guys like Tanev, Hutton and Tryamkin but you have to give to get and man do we ever need to get!

Thankfully JB has somehow how managed to stack our backend almost overnight. Now we're in a position to make a move. I'm ok with a Sbisa/Larsen deal but we aren't going to get anything back of real value.

I know people are going to freak out at the idea but Ben Hutton is a guy that might bring us back a real piece. He's going to be due for a pay raise, so maybe we look at moving him if he brings back a young scoring forward. Stetcher can step right into his spot.

Edit: What does Hutton and Baertschi get you??

Edler would be passing up a great opportunity imo if he didn't consider waiving for Montreal.

I would think McCarron could slip right into our top 9 this year and top 6 the year after. Or worst case you delay that by a year while he learns a few things in Utica.

I just don't think management/ownership would do that deal at this point of the season. Maybe at the deadline, but there's no way they trade Edler this early. They'd be throwing in the towel.

I don't disagree with you.   But McCarron fits JB's description of a rugged,  versatile,  gritty scoring forward to perfection.

Surly JB could turn around and pick up a useful stop-gap defenceman with Edlers vacated salary.

Sbisa made the world cup as he is better then most here think, but he is not going to get us more then a 2nd

I would take a 2nd for him and maybe just maybe Benning can use that and the jackets 2nd to them for a scorer like a Saad,of course we would need to give them something else but worth a shot maybe Granlund or something

I would consider trading one of Sbisa or Larsen for a defensive prospect like Juulsen or a forward prospect like McCarron. Preferably MM. He would be a decent piece to add to our forward collection and he can develop his game in the NHL right now. Would look good with the likes of Boeser, Horvat, Virt, Juolevi :)

If they would do Sbisa for McCarron I'm definitely down for it, could put him as a net front guy already on the PP with hands to finish in close.

This team needs all the scoring help it can get, and if even in limited time, I hope he can see time with the Twins and try to earn a complementary role with them to help increase their effectiveness in the short term.

Juulsen is another really really really long term project. Kid has not shown anything yet since he was another injured draftee....Not many of you follow the Habs and just think this is another great local kid we can pick up, well we already have Jake (another injured in his draft year steal eh!) and he is another long long term project. GL with that.

We need scoring not another defensive prospect. JB has already taken care of our D with Stecher, Joulevi, Trymak (if they ever play him).

Once again we need some WINGERS WHO CAN SCORE. Right now only Boeser has this kind of talent.

I follow the Habs a bit and also watched Juulsen closely in Jr because my friends kid played with him in Everett - he never really impressed me.

I'm not completely convinced that McCarron can translate his stellar Jr scoring numbers to the NHL but if JB is indeed approached by Bergevin he's the one glaring asset the Canucks are missing and he's definitely built to play hockey in the western conference .

Friedman during tonight's broadcast, said the Habs are looking to ease Weber's minutes. Tanev is perfect for that.  Now JB won't trade Tanev so it's s moot (moo for the young ones here) point.

If he doesn't he's an idiot, our team isn't stuck in the mud, it's totalled, call the wrecker not the tow-truck

Canucks are struggling to score. Tram is almost ready to play. Stech has been great. There are no rumours coming out of Van that JB is burning up the phone lines looking for a forward.

My my guess is that, that is exactly what JB is doing. Move a D for a forward.

Perhaps after Monday there will be some activity out of Buffalo.

I love when the team struggles, my imagination get to run wild.

I agree.  Keep the Twins, Bo, Sutter, Stecher, Gudbranson, and Hutton.  Trade the rest for picks - Prospects.
