Well....if this team messes the bed on this road trip.... does WD survive?

aXed. is my guess.  but then again... knowing this management team. he will probably get 3 more home stands and road trips before a decision is made.

I just don't see how a new coach is going to change anything. I was as hopeful as anyone at the beginning of the year but after seeing this team play, it's clear that coaching is not the issue. We just don't have any dynamic offensive players. It's going to be a long year...

why must you have two right wings on top line with two left wings on second line?

Sedin  Sedin  Hansen

Baer  Horvat  Eriksson

Granlund Sutter Virtanen

Dorsett  Gaunce  Lebate

Burrows

Edler Stecher

Huttom Gubranson

Tryamkin Tanev

Sbisa Larsson

This is the way I would roll. Only way that makes sense if we want to keep moving forward for this season.

Set it & leave it...

My guess is new years if team is still in a bad funky way unable to score ,Even though a coaching change is academic it changes litte in regards first line scoring and secondary scoring .Nothing this year can change that .

There where few waiver players JB an company could have aquired like Teemu Pulkkinen ,they chose to ignore in belief that this group is good enough .

The Way WD deploys an system styles stimmies any creative offensive opportunity .

If we are playing ELC players one should bite the bullet an play them in situations that allow the most positive offensive threat an grow with the young guys it will be way more exciting than trying to gut out a 1-0 or 2-1 game not generating enough power plays to use the D system neutered trap against faster teams with more skill and grit .There is also not enough size an grit in line up to win enough this way yet.

Of course he does, no team fires their coach before even 20 games in the season.  stupid question.

Listen here Mr. PeanutGallery, what makes that a stupid question?  Please elaborate.

Well considering the team has just lost 3 straight....the odds don't look good against Montreal and who knows how we fair against Toronto this year, that would bring us to 5 games, and surely there will be a few calls from Frankie's office.

Lose a few more on this road trip and I seriously don't see how WD keeps his job. Alot of those same pundits that said this team won't reach more than 65pts this year are also the same ones who predict Willie gets canned by November.

Pittsburgh canned their coach by mid December and we all know how that turned out. My guess would be that Green comes up to finish the year.

you can rearrange trash 100 different ways, its still going to be trash

Some turn it into art!

Harsh words brutha. Something tells me we're going to start to gel on this road trip, Try coming along, line settling perhaps...

Something to look forward to?

I think they should just stick with the same forward lines as they used against Washington. Just change the defence. Insert Tryamkin and take out Sbisa. Once Tanev comes back, take out Larsen.

Sedin-Sedin-Hansen

Granlund-Sutter-Eriksson

Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen

Zalewski-Gaunce-Skille

I would switch Eriksson and Virtanen.  Virtanen is too unexperienced to help Baer and Horvat take the next step.

Sutter can guide him on the ice - he often looks lost so playing with a vet should help him.

Yeah I was thinking about that... but I think it's best to keep Sutter's line strong by adding Eriksson rather than Virtanen.

At the end of the day, Sutter-Eriksson can play against any line just like Sutter-Hansen line. But the same can't be said of Sutter-Virtanen line.

I also think Virtanen's north-south game suits Horvat's game well and there is already some chemistry between Baer-Horvat-Virt. Since Virtanen is here to stay, we should allow him to be able to further develop the chemistry with Horvat and Baertschi.

Although we lost against Washington (much better team than us), I was relatively satisfied with the line combos. I think Baer-Horvat-Virt has some serious potential (already known by many) if Virtanen can assert himself more in the game.

Virtanen already has the hardest shot on the Canucks. Should be able to utilize it more often. And the kid needs to learn to go to the net more frequently for rebound goals. Going to the net will create more space for Baertschi to distribute the puck. Right now, I notice Virtanen far too often on the high slot (aka floating). I know he's trying to support the cycle play but instead of doing that, drive to the net, take a defender with you and Baertschi or Horvat will have enough space to operate and they will find you or at least get a shot on net for rebounds.

Sedins looked better with Hansen. At this stage in their careers, they need a speedy linemate or else, they need to be split up. Both of them have slowed down so much.

Sutter-Virtanen maybe not but maybe Horvat-Eriksson can.

Baer is not north-south though.   I've also never really liked Virtanen with Baer - it feels like they really don't process the game the same way.  I think Baer does better with guys who are more creative and are going to think the play two-three steps ahead.

I feel it's more important for Baer-Horvat to take the next step so I by far prefer a vet on their line.

Fundamental question...DOES the twins' cycle still work? IF it don't..split'em.

Something like...

Granny - Hank - Hansen

Danny - Sutter - Eriksson

Baerly - Bo - Virt/Rodin

Burrly - Gaunce - Dorsett

No 1st line..just roll with whoever's rollin'

If Burr don't wake up, send him down in Jan. Promise him a later gig with the org(for all he's done). Let's get bigger, faster, younger, shall we?
