Watching Tryamkin reminded me how much this team doesn't hit.the Sedins line, not gonna hit, 2nd Sutter, a bit, 3rd line Hobart 4th not enough. Where has the physical play been on the whole.

There is two players barely over 190 lbs in our top 6.

We're horribly undersized.  Engaging in a physical game would not end well for us?

Its why Jake, although sheltered on the 3rd and 4th line, is still here.

And why Tryamkin & Gudbtanson are so important!

But really we still need renaissance up front in more ways than just skill to score more goals...

It never made sense to not have Tryamkin in the lineup. Stetcher although small, sees the ice well, and is a good D man. Those 2 are assets not like some of the other D men. Now they need to bring up Pedan . Gudbranson is good but must be wondering what he's in for.

So much truth to this post....

It must really suck for Gud, Try, and Sbisa knowing that they are really the only ones who play physical and hit. Imagine having all the pressure of being our team's physical presence on the shoulders of 3 players....

Pedan has been on two NHL teams neither of which wanted to play him.  Oh yeah he passed through waiver where every team had a chance at him.  So me and 30 other coaches/GMs thought so.  Have you even seen him play any games in Utica?  Have you looked at his numbers this year?  Come on man, where does all that confidence come from that Pedan is gong to be an NHL hockey player?  What's the basis?

Hey coach, my bad at 23 and even parting with coveted Alexandre Mallet is a disaster. Having Andrey in the system is a complete waste of time and resources.

Mallet is/was worthless.  The 3rd pick has like a 10% chance of being an NHL hockey player, so it WAS a gamble worth taking like Vey and Baertschi.  This one didn't work out.  That doesn't mean it was a bad gamble.  15-20 years ago he would have a job as a fighter and 5 minutes a night defenseman.  The NHL has moved on from that, and he can't play a regular shift no matter how much we would all like him too.  You don't have to be so defensive about it.  If he had potential, he would be the 8th defenseman and not Biega.  Stecher and Tryamkin are getting time because of their ability and potential.  Pedan isn't and he was waived.  We are carrying 8 D, and we are calling up Stecher that means that he is 9th on the chart.  If it was down to him and Julovei for a spot on the team they would've kept Julovei so that makes him 10th.  I would've even kept Briesbois over Pedan.   Even if he does ever make the NHL then that would be as a 6/7 guy like Alberts.  Why get so excited about a guy whose max development is that of player who is perpetually available on waivers.

I think there is a silver lining to fact that Tanev and Edler are on the injury list.

.. More time for everyone else,. And he fact that WD has to trust that.. he has no choice.

Dont mind the Stetcher Tryamkin pairing.. they're fine.

Anyone notice Tryamkin's rush up the ice against the Laffs?

He really started to accelerate... this guy can scate!  :)

Only wish he had taken the puck right to the net instead of shooting.

Could you imagine 265 lbs crashing the net?

I want to see him go wide and cut to the net, slowly. Defenders can catch up to him but can't stop him. LOL!

Nikita Tryamkin had a good game against the leafs. He played more than 20 minutes, finished with a plus-one, got two shots on goal, registered three hits, no penalties and even logged 2:34 on the penalty kill.

He is more accurate than most of our defenders too.

Anyone else seeing a few parallels to Bure and Odjick in Tryamkin and Stecher?

Would love to see those two strike up an unlikely friendship the way Pavel and Gino did back in the day.

Gino really helped Bure learn English, acclimate to Canadian life, and feel at home playing in Vancouver. And Pavel always knew his big buddy had his back.

It'd be a great story if a Tryamkin-Stecher pairing could have a similar relationship on and off the ice.

I like how he plays the game with his head up, even with the puck on his stick.  He's actually more skilled than I first thought.

As I see it Alf he is coming along. He still has to work on his positioning and learn not to be drawn out of position but that will come.

And better first pass.

Give him a few years I think he will be extremely difficult to play against.
