Why are we going away from Sedin-Sedin-Eriksson?

Sedin Brothers

What line should Eriksson play on?

Because of a quick goal-less drought? We started off 4-0 with them, and the Sedin's were actually producing because Eriksson could help behind the boards. With Hansen there, he can't really help in the dirty areas. Additionally, Eriksson actually stayed in front of the net, and had some pretty close opportunities. They were able to cycle the puck and make the defense work pretty consistently.

Look, we might tank, but not by management. So we might as well embrace competing for a spot. With Rodin coming back showing great chemistry with Baertschi and Horvat in the preseason (6 points in 4 games), I think it is paramount that we get this first line going.

We have to embrace the fact that Eriksson is not a straight goal scorer. He's a playmaker too, and he's not going to drop 30 goals on the Sedin line. But he makes the Sedin's play better, and they seem to help his play as well.

Of course he works good on the second line, but I don't think playing along with the likes of Baertschi or Granlund will help him get his scoring touch back.

Edit: this thread might not necessarily be about the lines Willie is using, but more of the mindset by Canucks fans to drop this line altogether. We have seen in the World Cup of Hockey it works. Just takes time.

I'd like to see Eriksson play with the Sedins, but it's not my call.  Eriksson has the reputation (and the stats to back it up) that he makes other players around him more effective.  Sure, Eriksson hasn't exactly been lighting it up but it's more about getting the other players going than trying to get him going (he's a proven vet and so I think he gets the benefit of the doubt here - he has to start scoring sometime). It's not the Sedins that need improvement (or should I say that they aren't the only ones who need improvement and since they are the most skilled players on the team to begin with I think that it is Willie's strategy to try to get other lines going too).  Sure, the losing skid is ugly right now but I still think that we can turn it around if we (and the players) believe they can.  GCG!

Cause Honey Badger was our best player - hands down - until the injury.

Merit.

He deserved the top line minutes.  And he further proved that when he jumped Kadri despite having just been injured himself.

Heart and soul of this team.  No brainer imo.

yep.  without him and Tanev, it's gonna be tough to turn the slide around soon enough.

but tbh, I don't care that much - as long as the team continues to play the right way I will enjoy watching them.

Effort. If that is there, things can happen. There still seems to be a disconnect line to line, and I'm not sure where that emanates from. I can guess though, and my guess would be that this team needs a stronger hand guiding them. A coach that will bench a player like Edler, if he plays a substandard game, without chewing him out on the bench. A coach that puts the young players in positions to succeed. That is what this season needs to be about. The future.

The Sedins, Edler, Burrows, and Hansen aren't leading this team to any great playoff run. That's not an estimation based on turds from back East, or USA Today. That's based on the last four seasons. Hansen is, to me, the exception, and probably one of the most criminally underrated players in the game today. The rest had their chance with Luongo, Bieksa, Kesler, and Hamhuis. It didn't happen, and with each season, happened even less.

Ten losses in a row is indicative of a coaching change, but it's also indicative of a need for new leadership. A galvanizing presence that wears the losses on their face, and doesn't offer neutral, clichéd platitudes as the issues mount, one on top of the other.

I want to see this lineup when healthier:

Sedin-Sedin-Hansen

Baertchi-Horvat-Ericksson

Granlund-Sutter-Virtanen

Burrows-Gaunce-Dorsett

Edler-Tanev

Gudbrandson-Hutton

Tryamkin Stecher

Sbisa

Larsen experiment should be practiced on another team.  Send him to the AHL.

I can't blame Ericksson.

It's Willie.

Shuffling players each game, benching players to make them play better and pretty much having a blank clueless stare behind the bench.

How is anyone supposed to develop chemistry and learn how the others on their line play?  How is a kid going to learn to play better if you bench him if you don't think he played one shift well..?

Right now the players are all playing musical chairs to see who they're going to play with and Willie is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I think they're in the process of transitioning to Horvat and Gudbranson.    I'm pretty comfortable with the leadership present and future.

Hansen worked last year and I think his speed in the forecheck helps the Sedins a lot.

Erickson would be better with a playmaker with speed, or Horvat where his reckless charge through approach can open up net crashing plays that seems to be Ericksons bread and butter.

With Hansen gone, Erickson is back with the Sedins anyways.

Because our coach is stubborn as a brick wall.  Same thing happened with Vrbata, he was buried. Vrbata on pace for 52 points right now for the Coyotes. What happened last year?

WD's philosophy to run 4 scoring lines is the killer. It is not working, dont know why he keeps trying.

Maybe he should try a different angle to coaching - bringing the best out of each of his players.
