*Buzzsaw*
I am sure everyone has been watching for the next challenger ready to take on big Tree. Thing is... there haven't been any. In fact, I am not even seeing a lot of guys trying to catch him on the forecheck staple him to the boards while his back is turned. As far as I could see in the Rangers game... (only watched 2nd and 3rd period) there was only one attempt to come in hard on him, and the guy just bounced off. Meanwhile Tree has not been particularly shy, he hasn't laid any classic hip or body checks recently, but he has been shoving around the opponents a lot and knocking them left right and center, often to the ice. Thing is, they don't come back at him... they just shuffle their feet a little, peek up at that 6' 7" frame, and head in the opposite direction. What I particularly like about his game is the way he gathers the puck behind the net when someone is coming in hard on him from behind... he just puts the puck way out front on his stick where they can't touch it, puts his big body between the puck and them... and then... just scates away up the ice... if they try to lay the check, they just bounce off or sometimes he'll keep just one hand on the stick, reach around behind and casually swat them away. When he's called on to get physical with someone around the net, as in tonight when Grabner dug at Markstrom's pads... his reaction is clearly absolutely terrifying... don't know if anyone noticed the expression on Grabner's face when Tree laid the hands of stone on him, but he looked like he was about to fill up his drawers... fortunately for Grabner the Ref was there to wag his finger at Tree and tell him he was only allowed to throttle him for 2 seconds for each poke of the stick... you could see Tree going... "... ahh da, da... only squash two seconds". Even with the losing streak, I think the word is getting around on the NHL grapevine... tiptoe around the big guy... he is not looking for a fight, but if you start one you're going to be sorry... Pears
He was right about his statement that he belongs in the NHL. I remember last year when I was at the game against Chicago, players were bouncing off him like nothing. My favourite one though was during the LA game when Kopitar went to go to the net, ran into Tryamkin, and Tryamkin didn't even budge. He's gonna be huge for us in a couple years (no pun intended). khay
He's been great. He is an intelligent player. That is the thing I like the most about him. Not one of those big but dumb players. Edler-Stetcher Hutton-Gudbranson Tryamkin-Tanev Sbisa If WD is smart, he would play these pairing and the wins will come.
Lafayettecrossbar
I just hope the refs don't nail him with "big man" penalties

Nuxfanabroad
Get the feeling Tram is better on the right side(albeit, stuck with mostly radio) Edler - Stecher Hutton - Gud Sbisa - Tryamkin Pedan/Biega Maybe deal Tan-man for a pure scorer? Yeah, great bloke/player, but it seems a few of us are on board with this. His stock is in demand. Would be brilliant in the East.
*Buzzsaw*
Tree is also freeing Sbisa to start rushing the puck up the ice... something he was afraid to do when he was supposed to be the stay at home guy. Sbisa is also less worried about having to be the Canuck's 'hitting defenseman', now he can relax and just play his game. Sbisa had a good night against the Rangers, largely due to the fact he knew Tree was back there covering for him.

SaintPatrick33
Great detail Buzzsaw He also has a heavy wrister and can one-time the puck from the point, almost like how a buzzsaw can slice through lumber, his shots slice through the D. Perhaps his passing is not as sharp as a buzzsaw, but maybe thats just rust. We should trade Tanev or Edler for an upgrade on the Wings, because we have not seen many of our wingers buzzsaw it to the net with speed.

DeltaSwede
I'm not even focusing on his hitting or intimidation factor. His stick work, defensive positioning, skating, ability to shield the puck and to get it up the ice have all been good so far. His skating for being so tall is really encouraging and the potential is there. I've been very impressed without even considering the physical part. He can just put his body and insanely long stick inbetween him and an opponent and it is near impossible to get the puck from him. His puck battles in the corners have been good as well. I like it. But for whom do they trade? I would prefer trading him for some young assets(picks/prospects) rather than one player. Unless of course that player is young, can play in the NHL and is promising. Not many teams want to give up those type of players though. 1 hour ago, Nuxfanabroad said: Yeah, great bloke/player, but it seems a few of us are on board with this. His stock is in demand. AlwaysACanuckFan
Aside from being able to make a hit, the ability to make plays like this with confidence is what will make it a easy decision to keep him in the lineup...
