That would be even better. Guddy does nothing, no suspension and no fine. And Nikita kills all Leafs.

And maybe one of Edler's shot that always go wide, can go EXTREMELY wide and hit Babcock on the bench.

And Half of Edler's (inevitable) broken stick flies up, and hits Shanahan in the nose!

What did you expect from the National HOKEY League?  That game will be under so much scrutiny and manipulation if a Leaf is even knocked down cleanly up goes the refs arm.  Toronto will have free reign on the ice and any Canuck retaliation will be dealt with immediately.   They sort of brought this upon themselves though with that Bertuzzi-Moore fiasco and the bounty talk from Brad May.  What was really funny about that whole situation was Colorado snatching up May when Vancouver was distancing themselves from him even though he was one of the principles involved.  Wonder what that plug Moore thought of that?  Surprised he didn't go for another cash grab this time against Colorado for the mental anguish it caused him.

Completely different team (players, coach, management, ownership). Why it should it follow the team still?

You're a turn the other cheek type, aren't you? You'd prefer that the Canucks take abuse and not exact an equal revenge. That's been going on for years now, and it earned the Canucks the reputation for being pushovers.

Gudbranson probably should have kept it bottled up and vented out of the earshot of goofs like Abbot and Murphy, but he didn't. He wants to stand up for his teammates. And Pears makes a good point. Do you think that the league should have spoken to Lucic regarding wanting to kill Weise?

The hit on Dan happened in the seventh minute of the period. If Gudbranson had wanted to do something he had almost 13 minutes to do it. All I am saying is that bush league talk of 'killing you' done after the game is crap. Lucic had all series to do something with Weise and he waits until the handshake! Tells you all you need to know about a player that is now on his third team in three years (and lets Kadri abuse McDavid all game long). If you really believe that Dec 3 will be a nasty game and that Martin is in for a rough ride that night, then you have not followed the NHL closely in the last 20 years. Nothing will happen on Dec 3 other than a likely little dance between Gud and Martin followed by a litttle tap on the butt. These are all millionaires, part of the same broterhood. This is a little sideshow that has been going forever, and sells tickets: borderline hit, leads to tough guy calling out the other team's tough guy, the league steps in to make sure everyone has heard the threats and the fans are pumped, and then the game happens, and puff, nothung. Things were taken care of. Burrows speared Reilly. What more do you want? You want him to pull his hair?

Wake up people. Seriously wake the eff up!

Hockey died when when bettman took over.

Blah blah blah blah ticket prices and blah blah expansion and blah blah lockout.

Wake. The. Fook. Up

The game has never been healthier than it is now. Not even close. The players have never been as fast, as strong and as skilled as now. The revenues have never been as high as they are now. Bettman has done a masterful job and that is why he is now essentially commisioner for life!

Ah maybe because the two but separate incidents are very similar in nature and in the first there was retaliation by Vancouver later.  So even the idiots that run the league see the possibility exists given Guds comments.  They are just attempting to head off potential trouble.   From that first incident fairly or not Vancouver has a reputation.   And it borders on prejudging I know unfortunately it exists.

Agreed. It is not the most effective method. Was Gudbranson deployed at the same time as Kadri after the hit?

Lucic is in a class all his own when it comes to buffoonery. Although the reason he's been on three teams in three years has been because he is coveted, not because of his rampant jackassery. Why didn't the league speak to the Bruins about Lucic though?

The Canucks and Bruins had a line brawl in Boston, the year after the Stanley Cup Final. Who's not following.....

You don't think Kadri is going to get slammed by Gudbranson and Tryamkin every chance they get? Dorsett won't attempt a nice hit and a scrap?

Same union, not brotherhood. Can't say quite a few players across the league have treated the Sedins like brothers. Another hole blown in that theory.

I don't think another line brawl happens, but Marner and Matthews may want to keep their heads up.

That spear was pretty sad. Would've rather Burrows facewash him. What's with all the butt-tapping, hair pulling talk?

This blurb that Gudbranson uttered has probably been said out loud in game action ten thousand times since the NHL began. And now they have a problem with it? A whole lot worse has been said on the ice, much worse. My guess: It's because it's TOR. Must protect the Leafs players at all costs hey NHL? No suspension for Kadri's predatory hit on a future HoF player, yet the ref feels that Gudbranson is scary and must be dealt with before he hurts someone.

I hope Gudbranson ignores their warning and goes out and makes Kadri pay on December 3. Heck, it'd be worth the suspension.

Bettman has made it a very successful business by instituting game management to grow the game in the US. It's a healthy business. As a sport, it has been compromised by a banker from New York.

How sad is it when fans here are jealous of the Maple Leafs- who lost 7-0 yesterday by the way!

How do those comments come across as jealous? A hilarious scenario regarding a stick breaking in multiple pieces and magically finding their way to various members of the Leafs organization within various location in a sports arena is somehow a jealous rant? Huh?
