Ted Lasso
Mr. Aquilini, Thank you for being an owner of the Canucks franchise since 2004. As a Canucks fan since 1993, I am grateful you've allowed this to be a salary cap team, and get within one game of our first Stanley Cup! We have received the message that the 2016/17 Canucks are targeting a playoff berth, while simultaneously transitioning our core players, or "rebuilding on the fly." My petition to you is this: Allow Canucks management the singular focus of rebuilding our team. Specifically, prioritize acquisition and development of younger players over regular-season success. I have the patience and interest to watch young players develop (and not win), and will continue to buy tickets and merchandise as we develop our next core. Thank you, One Canucks Fan

No, it needs to start with the owner firing himself as GM' 90% of what Trev and JB do is argue with Aqua, We have no idea what would happen if they were allowed to do thir job

I.Am.Ironman
I would argue that we are rebuilding... in a stealth sort of way. There is no question we should have started earlier but the rebuild is well on it's way. We drafted top 5 last year and are looking to do so again. Not to mention 6th overall 2 years before that, then grabbing horvat at 9th OA the year before that. It has started. We just need a bit of luck from here on out. These are your most engaged fans, including many of your past, present and future season ticket holders. Thank you, Vancouver Canucks Fans We are in a rebuild. More youth is being injected into the lineup and deals JB has made have been bringing in younger players that will fill key positions moving forward (with the exception of Eriksson). Bringing in Gudbranson is going to be a great move for the new core. Hutton, Stetcher, Tryamkin, Baer, Granlund and Horvat are all young. Boeser is probably in the lineup next year with Joelevi right behind him not to mention high picks we're going to get in the near future. Just because they haven't, straight up said they're rebuilding, doesn't mean that's not their focus. You say Vancouver fans have the patience to watch young players develop yet the stands keep getting emptier and emptier with every game. I don't see it. Watching on tv at home doesn't cut it. They are not foolish enough to believe the fans will keep showing up if they know the team is not going to do well on most nights. They are doing it exactly the way they have to in this city. With the utmost caution.
Beary Sweet
I'm sort of 50/50 on whether we should go for playoffs or rebuild and trade vets like Miller, maybe Edler and Tanev since we are so deep in D and develop young guys into our lineup. Hey it worked out for Toronto and ended up with a prized prospect. We all admit that we are not a playoff team unless Sedins put up 100+ points but gods sake just admit that they're in rebuilding mode.

Our younger guys have been playing, we have other ones in Boeser,Demko, and Olli showing up next year. Rodin should be back hopefully soon to help out now THEN next season we have a large chunk of salary cap to go after more talent. Are you just as stupid as the sport writers in this town? Ghostsof1915
NEWSFLASH: With the players we have, and the NTC/NMC they have. And the fact that the majority of our players are not playing very well. We aren't going to get much in return. Ownership is still Paying Luongo $800,000 a year plus. Do you really think ownership is going to eat $7 million for two years to move the Twins to another team to get picks and prospects? Especially when they are the only ones getting points? The coaching change will happen. But don't hold your breath on anything else.

You make a good point though, I won't presume to speak for a fanbase I find 75% embarrassing - I edited my sign off accordingly. There are lots of good points being made about what we could really realistically expect; I guess I'd like to hear management explicitly state the focus is on developing players, not winning or making the playoffs this year.
