Stecher Value Huge: Trade Option?

I wouldn't move out any d man right now unless it's Sbisa. Build from goalie out. Edler keeps us competitive and out of the absolute basement. In 4 years:

hutton Tanev

tryamkin Stretcher

juolevi Gudbranson

brisebois/Olsen

so we don't exactly have a lot of extra d men who are good.

trade old vets for picks and then draft- get a pick for Miller at the deadline. Consider trying to trade Ericcsson with retained cap etc..

Wow I didnt expect for my reputation to take such a hit over a simple suggestion.

Canucks need major help on offense, we have stock piled young defencemen already: Gub, Oli, Hudson - We got Tanev and Edler, we cant hog our assets we need to maximize their value.

Stech will surely bring a top 6 forward to this team and that can be a big boost to our current production. We got Stech for free, he is a nobody without the Canucks we developed him, we made him into something and now we can maximize it.

it is like buying a small fixer-upper house and re-developing it into a mansion in a hot real estate market and flipping the house, you can flip players for assets just the same. I do it all the time in EA games and it works, I know people dont want to believe it but unless you have extensive GM management experience how can you say its a poor choice?

Stech has been awesome, but he's also a long way from anyone coughing up a top 6. Plus getting a college free agent this good is the rarest of gems, didn't even have to give up a pick.

PS - i'd edit "Hudson" otherwise the minuses will pile up...

No...no....just no

I mean, really?  You don't fix your car by selling your tires.

The very fact you don't understand why you're being torn apart so loudly for what you\re suggesting leads me to believe you\re a troll.  Either that or you've never watched a game of hockey in your life.

Lemme simplify for you

Blue line generates passing plays, power play point shots, POINTS.  Sedins and quality forwards feed off of those  like a well oiled machine.   Take that away and we're even worse than your posts.

Step away from the keyboard and think about what you've done

With this team struggling for goals Benning was on record recently saying that teams are calling him about prospects, including Juolevi and Stecher but Benning rejected the offers.

While along with others I would love to have more young defencemen on our roaster, this team needs scoring more than anything. Maybe now is the time to get maximum value for Stecher as so many people around the league are noticing his play. We can get a lot for him, and I think it could be a great move considering we got him pretty much free.

Thoughts are welcomed!

I'm pretty sure this account is owned by Frank Aquilini...also change your name, because you sir are clearly no expert!

I, unlike some others, see this this as only a "what if" question, not a "we must" statement.

Stecher is playing so well right now, I'm sure other GMs are taking notice. He's a RH mobile D, which is highly sought. And he's only 22. I'm sure JB could get quite the return for Stecher, but it doesn't make sense to trade one of our best prospects. I'd much rather trade Tanev, if we trade a RHD for a big return. Stecher is part of the next big wave, Tanev maybe not. Also, with Tanev and his heroic shot-blocking, may suffer more injuries as time goes on. This may be the best time to trade him. Canucks have shown with Stecher in the lineup (and Tanev out), they can win games.

It's been said, he's the most interesting man, in the WORLD.

HE doesn't ALWAYS cut off his snozz, to spite his face

Nor is he given to penning daily lame limericks

But, in the dead of night, he's revealed a curious propensity for delivering..

INSANELY, inexplicably, tragically indecent proposals(no toe-tag, on this unconscionable body-bag)

Stay parched, my ragamuffins...

Great idea let's become a farm team for the rest of the league.  I'm sure there are many teams out there willing to unload washed up plugs for up and coming talent.
