Makaramel MacKhiato
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Stecher has been a diamond in the rough for the Canucks this season. Many (if not all) of you know that Stecher and Boeser played together at the University of North Dakota, and Boeser played a helping hand to help us land Troy this offseason. Stecher has been more than impressive for us this season, leading me to believe that we are in for a pleasant surprise when Boeser makes the jump to the big leagues. Stecher's managed 8 goals and 21 assists, with a +26 rating last season. In comparison, Boeser was able to light up the scoreboard with 27 goals and 33 assists and a +45 rating. Obviously they are 2 different positions, but coming from the same club and similar development programs does Stecher give us an idea of what's to come from Boeser? If Stecher's play is any indicator of what we can expect from Boeser, Canucks fortunes may change sooner then we think.
Nuxfanabroad
It's fr**ken brilliant, have to say. TS & NT are like landing two developed 1st rounders, at this point. I'd almost guess some nasty trolls( in some rival Cdn towns) are grinding their teeth about it.
timberz21
Well in that case, let's draft/sign every players from the Erie Otters...after all, McDavid came from there.
Mathew Barzal
No, there's nothing we can glean from Stecher succeeding to say that Boeser will to the same. Different positions. Different playstyles. Different ways they will be incorporated into our lineup. Literally nothing
danjr
From what I originally understood of this signing was that it would give Boeser a familiar face within the organization. I never had any faith that he(Stetcher) could be a player of any impact. They are supposedly good friends. I feel this was an orchestrated move to ensure Boeser would pursue Vancouver. MJDDawg
IMO, what the signing and playing of a kid like Stecher, and Hutton for that matter, provides is a great infomercial for the Canucks' pursuit of future college UFA's. It validates everything JB and our scouts would tell these guys. Boeser will be signed next summer and will be here next September. Basically, our main selling point to these college UFA's is that we're an up and coming young team and you'll get every opportunity to make our roster...just look at Stecher and Hutton. If we can sign another potentially impactful college UFA , it's as good as a high draft pick, with much of the development time already done for us. Hairy Kneel
I just hope they don't try and switch Larsen back in there and send Stecher back down.

That is my hope also. Logistically, I can see that move happening, but only because Troy can go down without waivers entering into the equation. Personally, I would prefer Biega to go to Utica. He can be a leader there. I know...he needs (now) 18 games to be able to go on the expansion draft list. But, the way Larsen has played, I wouldn't mind if he was taken instead. What did he cost, a 5th round? That we got any games out of him is more than the typical 5th round pick.
IbanezRG
Tryamkin and Stetcher have earned their spots on the roster IMO. I even like the pairing once tanev comes back. Edler-Tanev Hutton-Guddbranson Tryamkin-Stetcher

Two completely different players, not sure how one playing above average in a small NHL sample size at the defense position means a pure goal scoring forward will be a pleasant surprise. Boeser from everything i've read ( never seen him play ) is that he is a pure goal scorer and will be pushing for a roster spot if all things go right next season in Vancouver. Nice to see to this point some young Canucks assets with potential and already in Stecher's case helping the team.
FijianCanuck
The kids played 7 games...need to see a bigger sample size. As for boeser he's gotta show he can be an elite goal scorer at the nhl level.

Makaramel MacKhiato
I feel like it's a Kelowna Rockets situation. It's a great organization where a lot of great players come from (Benn, Weber, Keith, Myers, Gorges, Edler, Barrie, Severson). Sure, it could all be fluke, but there is no denying that the right team can be a huge influence on a player and his development. Boeser could potentially turn out as other North Dakota alumni such as Parise and Toews.
The Weasel
Boeser is an elite sniper. These two played really well together. No wonder UND dominated. I wish we had Caggiula too. They are born winners.

erkayloomeh
Could someone enlighten me on the us college program? As compared to the canadian juniors. If one of our better junior teams played one of there better teams who would win.? In the past i thought of a canadian program better. Maybe not? Its hard to compare them directly as the players are at different points in their development in each league. The CHL (WHL,OHL and QMJHL) has players that are 16-20(15 yr olds are allowed on special consideration ie: McDavid, Tavares, Ekblad) where as the NCAA is players that are usually 18+ and already in college. With that said though I would put my money on the London Knights(CHL champs) from last year over North Dakota ( NCAA champs).
