[PROPOSAL] Tanev and Guance to EDM

Recommended Posts

Clearly Edmonton is need of more defense. Larson is good but he can't carry the D on his own. Adding Tanev to that team would greatly improve their team with his calmness and stability. Not to mention EDM's coach loves Tanev he was raving about him in the World Championship. So I would try Tanev and Guance for the Nuge or Puljujarvi. The Nuge seems he needs to start fresh like hall, even though he is playing against top players his production has still dropped off an I mention Puljujarvi because he seems his not living up to expectations. Many people believed he was the better of the Big three and he seems to be a healthy scratch often. Seeing what it cost to get Larsson this seems fair. Also Edm saves money

It's a good proposal.  We won't get Pulilarvi, but RNH is a definite maybe.

Trading within your division is always tough. I don't know that i want to see Tanev that much playing against us or helping EDM get to the cup. If we have to trade Tanev, I'd prefer we go all out for someone like Landeskog or a sniper from an Eastern team.

Why do you think Tanev isn't enough? Not sure you need to throw in Gaunce.

LOL.  JP hasn't played 15 games yet but he's not meeting expectations - ok troll.

And you want to acquire a slightly built perimeter player in RNH for a top pairing D in his prime , ok.

I'm not trolling but compared to Laine and MAtthews he is not doing so great. Also he has the better skilled centres around him to succeed but it seems that he can get anything going. If not RNH i think the suggestion of Draisaitl sounds sweet.

Different roles. Laine and Matthews have top 6 roles on their teams. JP has been bouncing around the Oilers lineup and spending most of the time on the 3rd line. Also JP had minor knee surgery in the offseason so that cut off a lot of practice time during the summer.

JP will be fine. He hasn't been as consistent as those two, but he has shown flashes of brilliance here and there. With McDavid and company riding shotgun, Oilers can let JP carve out the edges in his game and actually let him develop properly rather than throwing him into the lion's den like they did with all of their shiny prospects in the past.

If they want Tanev, at least Draisaitl comes back.  Nothing less IMO-- Trader Jim better gun for him to get a Johansen - Jones return for Tanev.

He put up 51 points in 72 games and I think in his prime, he would be a solid #1 even if he's not a top-level center.  Watching his play, he's already got size, hands, skill, a deft touch and the speed to be productive in an offensive role, and this team would be in position to give him that along with Horvat as the top 2 centers moving forward.  He was successful with straight-line wingers like Hall, and I think he could gift goals to guys like Jake, Sven or Hansen on a platter with his dimes.
