What are the Sedins doing wrong?

It isn't their fault the team leans on 37 year old players for ALL of the offence.

They shouldn't be the first line anymore.

Not their fault the team couldent plan a BJ in brothel.

I am not blaming them exclusively. I am just saying that there are many times the last few years where they make mistakes, play lazy defensively, get too cute with the puck that costs goals, etc. They are Teflon coated though and are never held to the same standard as others. That creates a bad environment for any team when your leaders are enabled to play that way and never held accountable when they do by the coach or even by themselves. The fact that the team relies on them for offense especially means that when they play a perimeter style or get too cute they should be held accountable. Lord knows if Virtanen or any other rookie passed up on those kind of shots that Henrik did they would be called out to get back to basics, etc by Desjardins.

Am I the only one here that's actually happy to see Virtanen getting sent down to Utica?

This entire thread is turning into another Willie D thread/ management suck thread....

Not one single person seem to know what is really going on, yet suggestions are plenty fold.

I hope he gets to play the rest of the season in Utica, out of the limelight... think HE needs this far more than anything or anyone else.

Until we get a coach who actually wants to hold the Sedins accountable too we will keep replaying the same movie over and over again.

Hold the Sedins accountable? The leading point producers over the last 10 years....

Sorry, but I think they've done their bit for this franchise...

I never said they haven't. I said that doesn't and shouldn't entitle any player to float or make the same mistakes over and over without acknowledging it themselves or having it acknowledged by the coach.

They say they have their chances and need to bury them. Really Hank?

I have the feeling, maybe it's just being on CDC but this is being blown way out of proportion ? I don't know, Jake is clearly not someone the coach trusts out on the ice right now. I was under the impression players like Virtanen would be given opportunity. I don't know how much of this is the coach or simply the player not showing he is putting in the time.

As Dave Tomlinson said weeks ago, during an optional practice Virtanen was out and off the ice before any others. At this point you'd think he'd be putting more into his game. So there is an issue there, just is but why ?

So if this is an issue, he needs to be in Utica and learn under Green there and become a professional on and off the ice. This back and forth is frustrating as a fan so I can only imagine those involved must be loving this.

There appears to be some form of disconnect somewhere between coaching and management this is becoming clear from an outsider ofcourse.

Here's hoping they actually leave him down there now. He's a hot button issue this year, just leave him in Utica and let him play and develop in an environment that isn't as toxic. Give him an opportunity to earn big minutes and be a go to guy, there's plenty he can learn in the AHL. He's not gonna make a difference up here yet, let's see if he can get better and develop to the point where he can. This season has been a mess and will likely end as a mess, time to look to the future.

Of the guys who were noted to be staying in Vancouver for the summer to work out, namely Virtanen, Etem and McCann. None of them have really shown all that much this year. Maybe some of this could be attributed to the Canucks training staff, or Roger Takahashi? Everyone else who seems to have their own training regiment or has a trainer in their hometown, is doing fine on this team.

remember when hendrik our amazing captain threw jake under the bus last yr for his hit that got him suspended  for a game or two. good captains  dont throw rookies under the bus they talk to them after practise  and say hay work on this and youll be sucessful in nhl blah blah blah. I think sedins do have some decent hockey left in them but hendrik isnt the best captain  he doesnt lead by example like linden did his whole career. The coach has to be fired so a full scale reset happens or a bunch of this stale core needs to or both. To many 200 ft defense first non offensive  players on team.  tanev, tryamkin, guddy, biega, larsen, skille, dorsett, sutter bring little or no offense thats half the team.  guddy and tryamkin  are keepers though i love the towers of death  bring the pain to opposing teams please.  I sure hope something happens sooner than later  willies days are numbered

done being the key word here............ when the sedins first got their letters the canucks were a winning team, and listening to their lame post game comments were rare ,now its become a consistent thing and its gotten old ,never owning up to the lack of TRUE effort suggests that nothing will change! for once i'd like either one of them to own up to their own play, absolutely no accountability! .leaders?

If the problem with these young players like McCann, Virtanen, Etem, etc is their work ethic, commitment, sense of entitlement it begs the question of how is Bennings character assessment so far off when he says it is a main attribute he is looking for in players. Not just young players either. Look at cancers like Prust as character guys he brought in.

I hope they leave him down there too. He needs to grow up and utica be a great starting point!

Henrik Sedin may be the only player in the league that when he is in front of an open net he'll pass it to his team mate (Daniel) in the corner. I wish someone from the media would just ask him point blank. Why aren't you shooting when you have the chance to score?
