Vancouver - Tampa (Proposal)

Vancouver trades.........   J.Hansen 50%

          TO

Tampa Bay for ................J,Brown , B. Howden

I really like Howden, he has good size, early scouting reports draft+1 are solid (Drafted 27th OA - 2016)

Vancouver does this to add a young forward with potential that has solid 2nd line potential in the veins of Bo Horvat (he plays LW and C) Leaves us with positive Cap of $47,000)

Tampa Bay does this because Hansen an move up and down any line up, kill penalties and has speed............all clubs love that on a good 2 year deal

Brown gives a short term replacement and can be moved to a playoff contender at the TDL, for a possible  4th or 5th round pick

Long term this allows much more cap space for Tampa's RFA/UFA signings.

What do you think?........this is a good deal for both!

First of all.. its Jannik Hansen.. Not Yannick Hansen.. Second.. I have no problem with that trade. i think its good for both teams.

Who's "Y" Hansen?

What does "Washington" have to do with this? Is Trump already approving whether or not foreign hockey players are allowed to play in the US without being deported?

Yannick Hansen is the miraculous love child of Jannik Hansen and Yannick Weber. Respect their love.

I don't see a problem with this trade. I love Hansen to death, but we could use more in the cupboards.

And then he is snapped up in the expansion draft.

This year any trade thoughts have to take into account the limited number of players that can be "protected".

Maybe after the expansion draft for a deal like this.

That's why I keep suggesting Florida and the twins or a lot more for one of the kids they CAN"T protect.

Good value? YES! (although Howden is un-signed...that kinda scares the crap outta me! and I believe they drafted him to play with Point in the future)

BUT!...Tampa may want a player to play a bigger role with Stammer on LTIR. Fortunately this does free up capspace for them to make a bandaid deal. Here's the thing though: this draft won't be as deep as last year. So Howden, who went 27 O/A in 2016, would go higher if he was a year younger. So it might be in TBL's interest to keep the better player drafted in 2016 (Howden) and simply pawn off their 2017 1st O/A. With Stammer out they "might" plummet down the standings, but they do still have solid centres (Johnson, Filppulla, Killorn and Boyle as well as Namestikov who has played C and youngsters Point and Paquette) so they might still be looking at a low 1st RD pick to pawn (they maintained a good point pace missing Stammer before - when he broke his leg - so they might be able to do the same this year).

I actually would see them making a deal for an older vet, possibly on an expiring UFA (EXP Draft bait) with a team that is currently struggling (but should be higher in the standings) to get a youthful shakeup ie/ NYI, DET, LAK (Purcell back to TBL?), NSH, PHI, DAL or my personal favorite SJS...JT Brown and a 2nd to San Jose for Marleau...if Marleau waives NMC?
