orcasgonewild
Hey guys, we were told that the Canucks would be contenders in 5 year's. So far I don't see it. We've traded a lot of young players and wasted picks for nothing. So here's my plan. Hire a coach: We are first going to fire willie. That's easy. Then we are gonna hire Crawford where he can come back home. Reasons why: -Crawford plays an offensive style which is entertaining for the fans and fits our players -he shortens the bench nicely -not afraid to get nasty Hire a capable GM: We are gonna demote Jim benning as a gm and put him into the head scout for the team. Then we will go to Florida and ask tallon to take the job. He's probably frustrated with the team rn anyways. Reason why: -jb is a good scout. -tallon is a gm that can put a team through a solid rebuild and fleece other gms in trading in the process Make trades to get younger: These trades are trades where we have depth and are at the deadline. We gonna get as many picks and prospects as we can. -Trade miller to LA for a 2nd -Trade Edler and LAs 2nd to flyers for schenn (flyers are the worst defensive team in the league and are close to being good) -Trade dorsett for a 6th -Sbisa to to anyone for 3rd -Burrows for a 4th Claim good young players off waivers: Something jb seems to not do is claim good players off waivers. We shouldve claimed pulkinen and griffith. If we want to get younger this also helps a lot. Play good hockey but aim for last: last gives a 20% chance at 1st overall. Those odds are high enough to win and even if you lose u can get Timothy liljegren or viliardi. Both give the team what they need, either a #1 centre defence or left wing. how long should it realistically take? Line up if everything goes right: (Doesnt include draft pick from 2017) Sedins Sutter Eriksson horvat Hansen Rodin schenn boeser baertschi Granlund virtanen Oj tanev Hutton gudbranson Tryamkin stecher Marky With this lineup it would take maybe one or 2 more year's of naughty hockey then u grab another good forward in the draft preferably left wing and then we are set. At least it would be entertaining hockey now!!
oldnews
I recommend this instead: 1) stay in school 2) get a job.

Which parts dont you specifically not like, bcuz I was trying to so something that could make for an interesting transition and clean out gm and head coach. Trades I agree might be off but I like the replacements for coach and gm
IBatch
Persoally I am ok with Crawford, he has done his due diligence in Europe to deserve another shot as a head coach. That said I don't know if he would risk what is possibly his last shot at a head coach job on a team like this. However I don't think changing coaches will do much over the next two years....Tallon has done a great job in Florida over a relatively short period of time, but our team simply doesn't have the assets to do much right now, NTC's and salary issues our going to keep some of the commonly floated players right here. Fans will have to learn patience no matter what changes are made, this team is headed into some tough years, actually we have already started that. It's a tough job market. Best of luck. But regarding your plan, if you're unhappy about the young assets/picks that have been traded, why give one up for Crawford? We have a capable GM - a good one imo. We are getting younger - and will continue to get younger in the next few years.
Warhippy
Why are we giving the Sens anyone's second for Crawford? Coaches are free now aren't they? They changed that rule immeidately afgter they saw the Canucks benefiting from it.

And I like the idea of Crawford because he like a fast paced game and something I don't particularly like about willie is that his line combinations aren't very good and that he doesn't shorten the bench after the 2nd period. Thanks for your opinion

It's year 3 of the 5 year plan. Benning has solid goaltending and decent D. He said he was going to build from the back out so at year 3 I think he's done a decent job considering where he started. Next is forward, there's 2 years left so I don't know how you "don't see it". Maybe you need to open your eyes cause it's pretty obvious what happening here. goblix
well first Crawford is an assistant coach so we wouldn't need to give them a pick... That said I don't even think that rule is in place anymore.. Anyways people give Benning too much of a hard time. It doesn't make sense, he was given a declining pile of crap and was told to put gold pieces around it to make it better... well it doesn't, but at least those gold pieces are all relatively young I doubt Miller gets a 2nd even from a desperate LA team. Personally I'd rather not trade for Schenn anyways.. at least not mid season. That seems like a better offseason after the expansion draft. Thanks for your opinion I gotta say - you take sarcasm extremely well - kudos to you. The Miller proposal isn't bad but I doubt the Kings could or would want to create the cap space for a temp while Quick is out - and Budaj isn't doing that bad. The Edler deal is interesting - maybe an overpayment - but the Flyers might be interested despite their good young D and Schenn would be an interesting fit in our group - gritty with upside - pretty good target (Couturier as well). Dorsett - would not dump him for that. Sbisa - again - not for a 3rd. Burr - sacrilege to dump him at this point - and he's playing well.

Another point I wanna add is that I really like schenn. If you go by the numbers they are really compatible. Schenn first season and second season look a lot like horvats first and second season. xereau
Hey man. Good players on waivers is an oxymoron. When was the last time anyone picked up anyone that's not only lasted in the league, but actually made a difference? It does not happen.
Fateless
You pretty heavily undervalued almost every single one of our players that you want to trade away. Edler and a 2nd >>>>>> Schenn value wise. Burrows >>>>> 4th. Dorsett >>>>>>>>> 6th. Miller and Sbisa are close to accurate, but you've completely ignored the expansion draft. Who are we going to expose in your plan?

Yeah its too bad Grabs decided to hit puberty after we traded him. But he bounced around on waivers between a few teams, and then has been traded since. And has never really been an impact player. Streaky to the point where he gets.. waived and traded, lots.+
