Sygvard
Chewbacca making bank! I doubt he plays for the whole contract, but they had to do it. Too much of their offence goes through him. He is too likeable to begrudge him though. Good on ya Chewie
Pears
Umm, yea Burns is awesome and all, but paying him $8 million when he's 37-39 if he's still even playing then? San Jose gonna San Jose.

Nucker 67
Ahh, reminds me of when MIN paid Parise $98,000,000 for 13 years. I'm sure that seemed like a good deal at the time too.
Tre Mac
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun 7m3 minutes ago Deal has a clause that if Burns retires early the Canucks must forfeit their first draft pick that year and pay 133% of Burns salary to every other team in the league. kidding

Tower102
I feel like things would be a lot more interesting and would have less cap circumvention if the cap hit was year to year based on that years salary. No more back loading years on contracts with 1M salaries to average out the cap hit (not sure what the break down is here but it is front loaded apparently). It would also eliminate most bad contracts as players age as the cap hit would be much lower, but it would shrink the cap available as the star is in the prime. This would actually lead to a even more balanced league which is what the cap is designed for anyways.
Mr.DirtyDangles
How did he not get this deal like 4 years ago ? Possibly the best player in the game at the position. Imagine if he played back at forward say just on the PP ?Beast of the league and deserves every penny.
TheRussianRocket.
Will be worth it easily until age 38. Burns is a phenom, absolute one of a kind. He will have Pronger type longevity me thinks in that he will be beasting and producing regardless of what age he is...as long as he's playing, he'll be effective.
