The Resurgence of Alexandre Burrows

Alex Burrows started the season on the 4th line where we thought he'd stay to provide veteran leadership. But has anyone noticed how ever since he was put on Bo's line his game has improved dramatically? I'm seeing shades of 2010, he's getting shots, getting points and is playing like vintage Alex Burrows. He Baertschi and Horvat seemed to have built some real chemistry and have been our best line in the last 5 games or so. It makes me so happy to see him having fun out there in what is probably his last season as a Canuck

this could go in the do we need him thread, but i'll bite D:

i'll give burrows this-- he's surprised me on how well he's been able to adapt his game to the changes of the team's direction (wherever that is) over the years. he's one of those guys who the team benefits the most having good line mates, whether its with the sedins or placed with guys like a bo horvat, who makes everyone better

alex burrows isn't a superstar player, or even a star player, and when he's on a makeshift line, just to have bodies on the ice, his weaknesses are exposed to that fact

Burrows is still very good on the forecheck, retrieving pucks, cycling, and knows when to go to the net. One reason he did so well with the Sedins is he has good vision and is a smart player. Although not really a star on his own, nor the goal scorer he once was, put him with good players and he can help them succeed. I'm going to miss Burr. One of my favorites this past decade.

Burrows stated over the summer he trained to improve his speed and skating ability. He came into the league based on his great work ethic, and even in the latter stages still wants to improve his game.

Started off slow, but as I have been posting in the Do we really need him thread, his recent ice time and great plays on the forecheck and PK, not to mention big goals to get us off the losing streak on serves to remind us what a gift he has been for this franchise.

Has he done enough for the franchise to warrant a place in the ring of honour?

Burrows is to the 2000s and 2010s Canucks what Snepsts was to the 80s Canucks. So yes.

In fact, Burrows just passed Snepsts for games as a Canuck moving Burr into 6th place all-time. The next guy for him to catch, should he make it would be Markus Naslund. Gives you an idea of how long Burr has been around here for.

He couldn't do much worse than he was at the start of the season. This is what he should be doing on a regular basis, not a surprise at all.

He may also be around next year if he can keep his play at where it's sits currently.

He would be a cheap cap hit as well.  The guy bleeds blue and green.

If if he does keep up his play, his as expansion draft protected as any player in the league. This could make Hansen somewhat tradable.

I honestly never thought they should have taken him off the 1st line with the sedins. Serious question; was he in that much of a decline where they thought another player could step up?  Or was it just because of the vrbata signing?

he might of had a chance last year if it wasn't for hansens play last year , i thought when they took erikkson off the first line this year they would try burrows there ,nope.

If Burrows played with Crosby he'd have netted 40 goals in a year. He's terrific at reading the play and getting to an area that he knows the puck carrier wants to get the puck to. Sid's problem has always been that guys couldn't think like him. If I'm Benning, I'm hoping someone is whispering this in Rutherford's ear come the trade deadline.
