(imagine if we'd kept Forsling).

could be one of this franchise's greatest draft years, rivalling 2004 (Schneider, Edler, Hansen) or a few in the late 70s....

Rebuild is pretty much completed on the back end, especialy considering that Juolevi and Demko are coming soon. And you can alreay see it in the team's performance this year. A couple of additions up front and we are set. A rebuild on the fly accomplished to perfection. No wonder Linden is as smug as can be these days, the tough part of his job is now behind him.

We need two ELITE scoring forwards, and they need to mature (develop) into that role before the rest of the young group gets too old, or it's not a success.

If we had a crack at him I would still draft Liljegren, he looks to be a PP dream defenseman.

I'm sorry but what about Stetcher makes you think he's going to be the best offensive Canuck defenseman ever?

Your ability to twist words is exceptional. I said he has a SHOT at being ONE.

Do you realize if he had ONE more measily point, he would be on pace for a 30 point season...as a rookie. I say that because stats seem to resonate with you. Which is normal for people that don't actually watch the games. Clearly something you don't do.

Name the last rookie defenseman we've had that is actually playing on the 1st PP unit. Don't worry, I'll wait.

Stetcher is a stud. We NEVER have rookie defensemen step in like he has. So I don't know how this is so hard for you to wrap your head around.

The part i like about stech is that he actually shoots the puck.

I just wish Benning would have gotten to work instead of slacking off in his first year at the draft here.

We needed him to capitalize on those early picks and he really let us down.

There's no way this team can improve without getting top-3 picks.  We need elite talent, and that means tanking.  It's already been two whole years and Benning has utterly failed at this, trading all the picks away for old guys and scrubs.

What are you getting at... It's a young man's league. The question is really if you think this group will develop and help the team contend. So why are we talking about value and trading them. Patience

Cheers,

GM

Dont forget Juolevi and the next wave of young defenders coming up thru the system.

We have not ever had this amount of young potential defence from our own drafting before, ever.

Wow hissy fit much?

I didn't say he has 0% chance at being the best offensive defenseman ever on Vancouver, I'm just asking what makes you think he can be one considering he's an undrafted rookie and isn't exactly lighting the league up.  Is it really more ridiculous for me to question him being the BEST offensive D EVER in Vancouver than you claiming he could be one?

I don't know the last rookie defenseman that's been on our 1st PP unit, maybe Aucoin or Ohlund?  When's the last time this team has been so terrible that an undrafted rookie that's never scored more than 8 goals at any level has been good enough to be on their 1st PP unit?  Don't worry, I'll wait.

Forsling would be a solid add. Wonder why JB was so quick to trade him. Oh well, what's done is done.

Well for example, Karlsson is only 26 and has already been an all-star for a few seasons now, Tryamkin and Stecher are both 22 Hutton is 23.

So unless you see something in them that's going to turn them into superstars in the next year or two then....yeah.

Tryamkin and Stetcher have just entered the league. They may or may not become superstars, but you don't know that...

The constant bitching about the quality of the players in this team is beyond a joke. How old was Chara when he finally broke through? I don't care if they become a Keith, Karlson or Burns, but I love the see us building a team big enough to stand up to anyone.

Will this team win? who knows but if they should ever get into the playoffs again, they won't be destroyed as easy as before.

Now support the damn team and embrace the potential it brings.

I was kind of kidding that the rebuild is done. You are totally right that some very improtant pieces are missing and it still has to be seen if the young defencemen can develop into any more than decent NHL players. And elite forwards are not easy to find. There is a possibility that Boerser might be one but that is quite a stretch, we will see.

and it makes it to the net, more often than not. Decent number of rebounds too, not wild high shots that are easily gloved down and that make the forwards want to bail out and duck for cover.
