Value of our young trio of blue liners

I can't wait to see Tryamkin in the playoffs.  I get the feeling that when the game gets a bit more physical he would be the guy that would thrive in that environment.  Not only because of his size, but his demeanor.  I don't think we have seen him come out of his shell yet.  Maybe this game against the Leafs will give us a glimpse.  Stecher is another guy that looks like he has another gear when the intensity ramps up.  You can see it at the end of games.

What are you getting at... It's a young man's league. The question is really if you think this group will develop and help the team contend. So why are we talking about value and trading them. Patience

Cheers,

GM

I keep thinking of this and wondering what other people think.

In 5 years from now when our young guys will be in their prime and Juolevi is starting to enter his is a top 6 of:

Juolevi - Stecher

Hutton - Tanev

x -Tryamkin

Is that cup worthy?  I guess it's impossible to predict how each guy will develop but would you bank one of Juolevi or Stecher being true #1 guys that can lead us to a cup? Would you trade Tanev hoping that a top 4 of Juolevi, Stecher, Hutton and Tryamkin is good enough? Would it be smart to still try and target a true #1 guy through the draft if it is available or be happy with our core D going forward?  We have a tonne of potential right now but it's almost all potential right now and not guaranteed. Hutton might never get better defensively and continue to have brain farts. Tryamkin might never develop past a good bottom pairing guy, Stecher...well Stecher is obviously the next Lidstrom. Juolevi might never get big and strong enough to be a factor in the NHL. Who knows what can happen but to build a team that is truly a cup contender everything is going to have to go perfect with the development of these guys and they are all going to have to fulfill their potentials.

Forgot about Gudbranson.  I just assume he'll be traded with all the other talent we have.

It's impossible to predict the future for our entire D corpse but based on what we see today, it looks very promising moving forward.

I don't think we should be drafting any more defensemen in the 1st round. We need high end forwards and I expect management to turn their focus in that direction.

I kinda agree. Obviously the teams attention needs to be turned towards getting thay elusive #1 center.

But say we're in a position to draft Liljegren, do you pick him up and try and trade another defenseman.

Juolevi - Liljegren

Hutton - Stecher

X - Tryamkin

That leaves us with the ability to trade Tanev, Gudbranson and possibly Edler for forwards plus gives us a potential true #1. But of course were speaking in all hypotheticals and basing everything on potentials so this is basically pointless.

Not sure we wanna exhume any D "corpse", but it sounds that would qualify as a necro-post...
