No....but unless I'm reading something into your post I don't think it's accurate to say "Willie doesn't want Jake in that spot"

im sure Willie would love to have Jake in that spot but Jake hasn't earned it.  This collective obviously is not going to reward players with spots who dont deserve them.

its arguable that Jake played over Gaunce last year based on pick number but the franchise does not revolve around the development of virtanen.  This franchise #1 priority is winning in my view.

Exactly this.

Players, young players, have to earn their spot. We forget that these Comets players are coming up and trying to fit into a new team, new line mates, new systems and facing tougher opponents. So is it any wonder they struggle a bit at first? That said, Chaput, Megna, Skille have all improved as they have settled in. I hope this encourages Grenier.

As for Gaunce, I don't see what people are complaining about, this is his first full season and he battles hard out there every night averaging just under 8 mins. It's not easy when your line mates are constantly changing. There would be uproar on here if Jake was played on the 4th for under 8 mins and with AHL line mates and yet Gaunce was a first round draft at 26th o/a.

I think Willie is seasoning him like he did with Bo on the 4th but unfortunately for Gaunce he doesn't have Line mates like Dorsett etc to help him. I still think he is doing a good job despite that and so does WD obviously.

Jeez I hope you are not blaming the coaches and trainers for a married man with a new child not being able to get himself conditioned and motivated to play a game that nets him $3/4M a year in salary.

Is this some kind of disease on CDC where players are never responsible for their own careers and performances? That if they screw up it is always some one elses fault. If this is  normal I wish my boss knew about it.

Etem's salary was $750,000 not 3/4 mil.

And yes, Etem has to take the blame for not showing up at camp prepared, but maybe the coaches should have been on his case sooner?

Last year he was a decent 4th liner, 7 goals, 5 assists in 39 games... that's a heck of a lot better than the plugs we have playing for us now.  And that is not a flash in the pan, he put up similar points in Anaheim his first year.

Yes, it is all done and the Fat Lady has already sung, but I think the guy showed potential to be a regular on the 4th line.

Benning should be looking around for free-agents or unsigned replacements for the guys we have right now, because with the exception of Gaunce, who is still learning, they are not getting it done.

I think it's actually better for men to pee sitting down as well.

True story, when I was a kid my dad told me I should be sitting down and facing the wall.  Who the F does that? Other than him I guess.

Does he use his size like a power forward or is he more passive ?

He uses his size to protect the puck and his long reach to break up plays. He doesn't shy away from physical play but he isn't really out looking for it . He seems to have pretty good hustle.
