Noseforthenet
So yeah, I was thinking about this today. We all know the type of game Bo Horvat plays and so far we are getting a good idea of what he can be capable of. My question is: does he need a mentor to get him to that next level? I don't think we want him to top out at Ryan Kesler level or Mike Richards when he was good. They are and were good players, but I think Bo has more potential. Is there someone we can get to help him grow to be that awesome player, like when Sundin helped the Sedins get to that next level, but someone who plays the same sort of game? NEON.KNEE
Shane Doan...He's untouchable tho
Green Building
Bo Horvat is the mentor.
Kevin Biestra
If he tops out as a 40-goal Selke winner, I won't be complaining.

Pickly
Mentors or the like I think are overrated. Jonathan Toews is arguably the best captain in the NHL and he never had a mentor. The Sedins are pretty damn good guys to learn from though so Bo is fortunate enough to have them.
Whale Tail
Bo has the drive to make him succeed. We have the Sedins to teach him about conditioning and tips on getting the puck in the net. Than we have Malhotra for defense and face off. I think Horvat will be fine.
riffraff
I'd say he doesn't need one. I feel he is his own master and carving his own path and identity in this league.

AlwaysACanuckFan
Horvat is the one true mentor!
ynwa
I don't thing the best players really need "A" mentor. They instinctively pick up bits and pieces from those around them and then blend all the good stuff into what they already naturally have. That's why it takes a few years to propel them into the top echelon.
xereau
I would target John Tavares, but he is going to cost.. A LOT this summer. He is probably the best center in the league that gets the least press.
BowtieCanuck
People on this site are like the overly attached girlfriend of hockey fans. He's fine, he's right on schedule for his progression and he's already matching (and exceeding) the Sedins current scoring totals. Be patient. LaBamba
We don't need to go out and get anyone. We need to surround Bo Horvat through the draft table.
Lockhart
So you are worried that Horvat will only be able to dominate games like Kesler did for us once in a while?

beni
Bo is carving his own path. He does have the Sedins and Malhotra. Pretty stand up characters, his work ethic will do the rest.

Well Kesler is good. Also a diver. But there is a difference in what I am trying to put forth. Like the difference between Ryan Kesler/Mike Richards in his prime and Anze Kopitar, Johnathan Toews, or Peter Forsberg. I wanna see him reach that level of skill and leadership. Can he get there on his own? Does this team have the guidance already to get him there? If not, could the team target a guy who can help him get there?
