Would they hold on to win? Hockey Ops on TO would suspend all of the Canucks players including the goalies immediately allowing the Leafs to score 9 unanswered goals. They would also start every faceoff right in front of the Canucks net and come up with a new rule that they don't have to actually start the clock with less than a minute left unless Toronto is winning. Steve Simmons and Nick Kypreos would both die of massive orgasms and the media would frame it as the gutsiest and most improbable (and completely legit) comeback victory of all time. Babcock would say it was nice to see his players dig deep and Lamoriello would say that good things happen for teams that play hard at critical moments. Of course, this is all unrealistic because we know Toronto would beat us four games to none, get 50 PP to 0 for the Canucks and outscore us 30 to 1 those 4 games. I mean, even with help they couldn't stop Horvat from getting one, right?
Bo fan
So .............who fills Edlers skates ? and who breaks Edlers sticks? This is a d man that eats up big minutes against big heavy teams - I bet he's going to be missed - just my humble opinion - I know lots on here disagree

However he might be persuaded to allow the other 29 to have them if you meet him over a fancy lunch and bring the envelope.

People hate him but he eats a lot of important minutes. There will need to either be another D really step up or, more likely, a committee approach to taking on those minutes and responsibility. Elder will be missed though, like he was last season. Eats up a bunch of tough minutes. The bright side to this is that our young guys will have to take up these minutes so we'll see what they're made of within the next few games. Last season we never had this type of young depth besides late in the season when Tryamkin joined the team. Even then what we have now is more. Happy to know that our future on the back end looks bright. Never has in a long time. Hopefully if we do end up losing a significant amount of games with Edler out then management knows when to fold their cards and chalk it up to another development year. IBatch
same as last year ..say what u want about Elder but the teams winning percentage is better with him in the line up. management will have to pray the young d steps up or the playoffs will be officially out of reach. As this stand right now the other teams in our division are sucking just enough to give us hope thanks to Horvats line mostly and the Sedins taking the hard assignments to give the others a chance to keep us in it. Losing our first and second defenseman will be too much for this team....I hope I'm wrong but the guys have their work cut out for them.
