*Buzzsaw*
Can't say how impressed I am by Troy Stecher this year. He plays with such skill, intelligence and determination. And he just seems to be getting better every game. His offensive game is just coming into its own. He is starting to scate with the puck, and his first passes are improving all the time. And the way he plays inspires his team mates... just like the way Bo plays inspires them. Anyone who watched how the team mobbed Stecher after he scored can see the rest of the team loves the kid. Just like the way Bo all impressed us last year that he would be the next Captain... I believe Troy Stecher will be his right hand man. We have two gold plated heroes in the making in these two. TheRussianRocket.
Why is every thought that comes to your mind made into a new thread every other day. I'm certain there's a player discussion thread or something which you could post this in.

HerrDrFunk
Stecher hasn't shown anything that says he can't be a leader....but at the same time, I haven't seen anything that screams leadership from him. Contrast that with Bo whose leadership is so apparent he might as well have a big ol' neon sign above him that reads "Future Captain".

oldnews
No, that'll be Gudbranson. Stecher is a gem, we all love him, he's going to be great, etc, etc, but he's played 14 games in the NHL - let's give it a season before we decide to make him an assistant captain lol. goalie13
If you want to impress your friends with your hockey knowledge, refer to the role as alternate captain, not assistant.

Who wouldn't like the guy? He seems like a good kid who's enthusiastic as hell and has the skills to match. But that doesn't make him a leader in and of itself. -AJ-
Eh, I think it's way to early to say that. Picks for the captaincy will be based more off leadership ability than playing ability. I'd more likely see a guy like Gudbranson become an alternate than Stecher. Stecher would have to wait for many years or shows some insane maturity (a la Horvat) before getting thrusted into that sort of role.

Personally I think LASTNAME is the only shoe-in as our next Assistant Captain.

chon derry
with 1 3/4 seasons left (minimum) for henrik to play bo's obviously the front runner, stecher having 14 games under his belt is pretty early to make that assumption, however theres lots of time left for a number of players to prove their worthy of wearing a letter , this time around what ever decision is made it should be made by the players, instead of mng/coach appointed . luongo being appointed was just stupid. i always questioned the appointment of henrik as well . players being considered should be nominated and voted by the players ! Henrik Sedin named Canucks team captain by Staff Writer / Vancouver Canucks October 9th, 2010 Share Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President & General Manager, Mike Gillis and Head Coach, Alain Vigneault have appointed centre, Henrik Sedin team Captain. Sedin becomes the 13th Captain in club history. “Henrik Sedin embodies the principles of this organization and all of the qualities of a leader through his honesty, integrity and discipline,” said Gillis. “Henrik is an exemplary leader who inspires teammates with a work ethic and desire to continually evolve his game. We are proud to name him as team Captain.”

*Buzzsaw*
Two years ago in his rookie season, I said Bo would be the Canuck's next Captain. Lotta people laughed at that, and said I was blowing smoke out my backside. Now everyone knows he is the next one. I think, putting aside the possibility Stecher could have a career ending injury... or he could be traded... (please no) he will be an 'alternate'. He has that knack of inspiring his team with his play at critical moments, of coming through when he needs to. On top of his generally excellent play. Add to that a sober intelligent attitude... listen to his interviews, he's not a Ben Hutton, who is a great player but who prefers to be the comedian of the team. Obviously there's a long way to go before Stecher gets an 'A', but I think I will see one on his jersey at some point.
NUCKER67
Markstrom (lol) Sorry, had some Lu flashbacks. Actually, I forgot about Gudbranson, and so I will assume he gets the A before Stecher does. Stecher might actually be one of those quiet players who goes about his business very efficiently, and rarely makes mistakes. He may not be very vocal, but shows why he belongs on the team and maybe even be on the top pairing one day: Juolevi - Stecher Hutton - Gudbranson Tryamkin - Subban Pedan Brisebois Heck, Stecher's already on the top pairing!
