Nah, that is not enough of a deterrent from stopping guys like Nadri and Martin from taking cheap shots.  The Laffs lose a lot.  Has it stopped them yet?

Inflicting pain is the best way.... within the rules of course!

The way this team is constructed they can't inflict much pain on anybody, not one big hitter in the forward group. Gudbranson will get into the dumb showcase fight with Martin and either get tossed or end up getting penalty after penalty playing into the Leafs hand. Sbisa has been physical lately but hardly a deterrent, Tryamkin is an unknown yet whether he can dominate an opponent. If it gets into the gutter the Canucks lose.

We have enough guys who are capable of inflicting pain collectively on Kadri whenever they have a chance... Horvat, Burrows, Sutter, Sbisa, Gudbranson, Tryamkin ... and yes, even the Sedins if they want to. I still think that's the way to go. I can see your pov, but just trying to beat them on the scoreboard is not good enough in this situation, in light of what happened last game.  What happens if we can't score?  Then those guys get off scotfree.  A message has to be sent.

And I believe Gudbranson has been instructed by the coaches to pick his spots with Kadri and Martin.  He's not that dumb, especially with the eyes of the league on him.

Martin is a "in your face", hard nose, let's get at it kind of tough player...Martin will bring it, the Canucks tough guys better be bringing it and be in the same mind set as Martin.

I saw Martin go after both the Flames tough guys when he was on the Islanders (was at the game)...Ferlund and Boelig, they (Flames) backed down; however, Martin came after them again and again and started going after their star players...Boelig had no choice but to go after him...Martin wiped the ice with him.

Canuck players have to bring this mind set because Martin still thinks that justice needs to be served from his perspective.

And did he go after Derek Engelland? Probably not. Erik Gudbranson can go toe to toe with Martin and hold his own. What did Martin allude to that gave you the idea that justice needs to be served? What justice? Stecher getting away with skating around and stealing the puck from him?

Please....Matt Martin is a renowned hitting machine, but the Canucks aren't the team that was pushed around by the Flames a few years back. There is a lot more size and muscle to the team now. If Martin isn't gutless, he'll accept Gudbranson's invite like a man. Just like Zack did. And while Zack started off well, by the end of that scrap, he was under Gudbranson.

Hahahahaha. The Leafs have Matt Martin who picks on small defensemen, and Kadri who delivers blindside hits to unsuspecting opponents. And they have talented, skilled waifs who like to lip sync to Bon Jovi.

If it comes down to a brawl and Gudbranson, Tryamkin, Sbisa, and LaBate are on the ice during somehow, the Leafs will be mulched.

How you think that the Leafs are the larger, stronger team is interesting, but odd.

I'm not blind to the fact that Martin knows how to fight; he is big, tough, and doesn't shy away from it...he instigates it. Gud knows this too.

Engelland was hiding behind Ferlund...Martin went after the Flames and it was obvious they did not want to fight him because the guy knows how to fight and he is a true heavy weight. Gud needs to bring it if he wants to fight Martin.

Engelland, while getting on in years, is one of the toughest players in recent history, since Colton Orr retired. Please provide video proof that Engelland hid behind Ferland.

If Martin is such a "tough" player, then why did he go after one of the smallest Canucks last game? You see, an actually tough player seeks out a fair and honest fight. Martin was a cowardly turd last game. There is no denying that.

Gudbranson is more than capable of handling himself in any situation. He can take Martin.

Forget a dumb staged fight where the refs get involved.  I want to see some huge open ice hits.

This would be preferable. Lining up every Leaf possible and just leveling them as hard and cleanly as possible will set more of a tone than any fight.

Sit the Sedins and Larson against the Leafs. Call up Pedan, Grenier and Labate.

Grow a backbone and get retribution. Take the fines and suspensions, it would be worth it.

Yeah, the double standard NHL, would have an issue with that. Sadly.

Martin went after Stetcher after he asked Dorsett out and Dorsett instead went after a Leaf who did not want to fight. The Canucks missed their chance at Mathews when he was on the ice during the Stetcher/Miller/Hutton/Sutter-Martin maylee.

Martin did what many Canuck fans want the Canucks to do, the difference is action/reaction.

Canucks fans want Gudbranson to go after and ragdoll Mitch Marner if Martin turns him down? Good to know.

One has to wonder if Quintal's presence is the work of Shanahan whispering in his ear after a reacharound. Clearly the two have the DoPS as a common bond and surely Shanahan exploited that to know end, knowing that Toronto media will lineup for whatever they can take, as long as they're kneeling, that is.

agreed..Martin is no walkover..and what he did to Stecher was to send a message..I guarantee he isnt quaking in his boots.

There is no doubt that Martin has the dimensions to cause damage, but to go after someone who , not only, isn't willing to scrap, but whom you outsize by a distinct margin is cowardice, pure and simple.
