If we don't stripe this down now we won't be in the playoffs for 10 years. Hank and Danny on there way out we got not 1st line coming up. And behind horvat is Brandon sutter. Do they have &^@#ing eyes like this team needs to get some draft picks and asap 2-3 years of building and we could have a cup team with are defence that is looking good future wise. We are tanking, and infusing youth to improve in the future. The reason that they are saying we are shooting for the playoffs is because a team without hope gets used to losing and it sells better. Just because Benning says one thing on the radio/TV doesn't mean isn't planning for the future behind the scenes...young D-core is an example of that. They could move them and we could make a run at the playoffs again? If you make the playoffs then you never know, right!!!! We can just keep doing this because eventually we should win the cup, right!!!! That is the mentality of a typical Canuck fan. You are wasting your breath. There is very few fans who will openly admit that Benning and Linden have make big strides in a rebuild even though we are not in a rebuild. You could probably add Hansen to your possible trade list that would bring a decent return. Everyone seems to want these trades to happen today but they would be the first ones to complain that we didn't wait until the TDL to maximize the return. Lockhart Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 The Sedins need to be moved in the off reason, Edler needs to be shipped out to make another space on the left side for Juolevi next year and management has to not re-sign Miller. We should or will probably half to retain a good chunk or half of the Sedins contracts but for next year we might as well retain 50% to better their trade value. If the Sedins are retained at 50% that is around 20 million of contracts off the books including Burrows. Although I like Tanev I'd be open to trading him for a young top 6 forward which we desperately need. Any expiring contract should be moved at the deadline for as much as possible, even if the player only fetches a 5th or 6th round pick it is better than nothing. We need to inject youth into our lineup and hopefully that happens next year with Boeser, Juolevi, Virtanen and hopefully a top 3 draft pick. We fans accept a rebuild is painful, but we should be able to look forward to plenty of high picks on draft day to compensate, and (as a result) have a lot of young prospects to look forward to seeing.
