Canuck_Fan_52
To the OP, depends on if you want to make money or just get rid of them, if it is the latter, you can throw them away or give them away to an avid Pokemon fan. If oyu want to generate money, you can sell them on eBay. An original Charizard or a Machamp can get you around $1000.
6of1_halfdozenofother
There used to be a bunch of collectables stores around town that (if the cards were in good, resaleable condition) would pay you pennies on the dollar (ok, maybe closer to dimes on the dollar) for them. Now that most of them have closed shop, your best bet would be to find a gaming store (ones that sell Pokemon cards) to see if they'll take them in for resale, or if there are any avid fans/customers at the store who would want them. I have a stackload of M:TG cards that I may one day need to give up, and am considering doing the above for when the time comes. All my playing friends have no need for the 1000's of cards that I have, and with family and work being priorities, we rarely have time to play them anyways. 6of1_halfdozenofother
...of course, the other alternative is to get some kids hooked on it, and then sell the whole lot to them. ;)

otherwise
Pokemon is again super cool with kids, like it was back in the day. I don't know if the cards look the same but if you want to sell I'm sure it would be no problem to find a buyer.

taxi
EBay. More work, but you'll get way more money selling them this way than from any hobby store.

I had a bunch or MTG card from when I was In Elementary school. I took them to a comic shop and payed the guy 20$ to go through them all and find all the valuable ones. He ended up offering me 500$ for the set. I sold them on Craigslist after that for 1500$. I suggest going through them all!
