Monty's correct on this one Alf...

Duchene >>>>>>>>>>> Sutter

Barrie>> Edler (at this point in his career)

I love the nucks but outside of Horvat/Tanev a few of our prospects and maybe Miller to a team desperate for goal tending (that he would waive to) our players are worth little to nothing to other teams.

Duchene is a career minus player.  That's important isn't it?

Depends on the circumstances but could reflect more about the team, who he plays with and who he is up against, than him as an individual player.

If Duchene, Landeskog, and McKinnon are so good, why doesn't their team score more?  Maybe these guys are like Hall, RNH, and Eberle, and they're just not winners?  Hall for Larsen might be similar to Duchene/Landeskog for Tanev?

They have Johnson and Barrie on the right side. Why would they give up a top young player for a 3rd pairing right side dman at 4 plus mil per season that they can't protect in the expansion draft anyway?

Tanev is also not good enough to get either of them straight across without significant prospects/picks being added in.

Edler is a decent fit but with his NTC seems destined to end up in Tampa etc for nothing as a UFA.

Unless we are giving up Horvat or Boeser, 1st.etc we do not have what Colorado would want to move any of those players.

And whoever takes them would need to take Beuchemin back assuming he would waive as they need the spot to protect any dman they acquire.

Larsen, not as good as Tanev fetched Hall, a top five winger in the league.  Tanev would immediately become the Avs best right shot d-man.  I just don't think we want the .Avs damaged goods.  Those guys (Landeskog and Duchene) are perennial losers.  Tanev went to a Stanley Cup Final!

Nice troll job Alf.

Larsson is a much more complete player than Tanev with a ton more upside offensively. Tanev is good at one thing - defensive play - and brings no offense, no physicality, and no shot. They have no need for Tanev with who they already have on the right.

Tanev is a valuable player but you are overestimating him by a country mile. No team would trade him straight across for Johnson or Barrie. Not even close to being their best right side guy.

The Hall-Larsson trade is not a meaningful comparison at all and is an outlier. It was a specific trade for a specific young player the Oilers coveted and needed on their top pairing. The Avs need a top pairing left side dman, not a right side top 4 guy.

And last time I checked, the entire Canucks team are perennial losers too.

Wouldn't it be trolling by arguing that Tanev is not so valuable, considering this is a Canuck's board?  There are many who see Tanev as having very good value; his underlying stats are better than Larssen's.

Tanev is older, more injury prone, and one dimensional though. He is not as valuable at all. So I am not trolling, just being realistic. Tanev would not be a top pairing dman on all but a few teams.

He is not going to get a young franchise type top 6 player on his own no matter how much Canucks fans want to pretend he will.
