To figure who the a. kissers are in their organization. You know the kind of employee that nods and agrees to everything the boss says.... You see them posting on here as well saying who wonderful JB is .... What a great job JB is doing... How wonderful Willy is behind the bench... Hmm well I think JB is doing an ok job.. he's made some great moves( tryamkin, Boeser, Stecher etc) and some brutal moves(signing Erickson)

DADDYROCK
Well, if only the management read this. The thing that really gets me is we don't scout players worth a damn, for instance I hear that the Canadian World Junior team has 10 Tampa bay lightning players, how many do the Canucks have (not a single one). Personally I would fire everyone of our scouts after hiring the odd scout from Tampas team. Seriously our scouting is just pitiful. The Canadian teams are killing it and we do not have any players on juniors or the olympic teams and we wonder why we have never won a fricken cup. I love the Canucks and wish them all the success but with that kind of scouting(check the record over the last 20 years, absolutely terrible))we are doomed to fail. Time to bring in some people that know what the hell they're doing and not just a bunch of old time Canucks that have been hired for our scouts , because that is not working,WHATSOEVER. He talked of matching up against Getzlaf and Kopitar. It's an interesting take as it would suggest that they might have revised their assessment. I actually thought it was more because WD wanted Horvat to concentrate on defence this season and not worry about points. He says he sees Horvat as someone that can shutdown the top scoring lines in the league, so by default the Granlund/Sutter line takes the offensive role. It does contradict a bit the scoring expectations set on Baertschi - he's more about creating a play in the o-zone and he hasn't been a PP regular. Linden just listed his struggles to score as a reason for their poor standings - Eriksson's slow start and injuries were the other reasons. I had the feeling that they were starting to balance the defensive assignments a bit more equitably between the two lines compared to the start of the season where the Horvat line barely had offensive opportunities. With Hansen injured again that might change. Btw WD said that it was fortuitous that he tried Burrows with Baer-Horvat - he said it wasn't intuition and that he had tried 30 different combinations before that one (actually only Virtanen, Skille and Dorsett). Yeah I have taken note of, more or less, the same notes you are documenting here? The problem is, and I posted this pre-season, and it was exacerbated when Jake nor Etem had an impact at the start of the season. They would have helped some physical match up issues. Even cause some match up issues? #1, our top 6 is too small and slow! Not that any one guy is to be singled out. But only one guy in the top 6 is over 190 lbs, only Sutter and (injured) Hansen have true speed. And even then Sutter's speed is at stride. He does not have that extremely quick start & stop, nor quick lateral movement type agility. #2, the "personality"of each player, defined as play maker, sniper, 2 way forward or checker, etc., does not lend itself to moulding lines with an identity. You are touching on it here. Do we want Baertschi starting shifts on D zone draws against top match ups? Or dangling the puck with scorers??? His line, with Horvat often has to win a draw and slug it up ice. We don't really have any line with a true "defensive stopper"make up. As we did when Malhotra and Kesler pivoted our 2knd and 3rd lines. We will probably just have to wait. For offensive and defensive talent to surface, before we can really have lines to deploy with explicit purpose!
