I'm asking what your best reasons would be to invest three hours every other evening on this years Canucks. I've watched this team religiously since Matt Cooke scored with 2 seconds left versus the wild, and let me confirm that I'm not switching allegiances, but with grad school and so many other activities I want to do, I don't want to stare at a screen until 9:45 only to be frustrated with the entertainment value, and if I had to pick between watching the Blackhawks play the Penguins, or the Canucks play the Avalanche on a Saturday, it's going to be the first option, even if I don't care who wins. This years team is just so Vanilla, and it has nothing to do with wins or losses, or the defensive game that we play. Hell when Ronalds Kenins was going, he was a reason to tune in. This year though, watching Henrik Sedin pass the puck behind the net, down a goal with 2 seconds left, is enough for me not to watch the next game. I still watch and attend the games and always will, the number of games is just decreasing from 80 to 70 to probably 60 this year, but I'm a hockey fan first, and the first round of the playoffs is something I will MAKE time for, even when the Canucks aren't playing. I understand that a lot of you feel the need to watch simply because feel like you have to, and that is totally respectable, I'm just curious as to how you would sell me, or anyone else on this years team. Oh you didn't know there was an instruction manual for being a 2016-17 Canuck fan?

appleboy
The write up on Lookwood and Gaudette shows what type of player Benning is going to rebuild with. They sound like Alex Burrows clones. Good skill , skate well , defensively reliable and a never ending work ethic on and off the ice.

If you don't want to watch a team struggling to develop new talent, Don't watch! If you are expecting a contender, Don't watch. If you don't want to suffer through a year of less than mediocre scoring, Don't watch. If you have "better things to do". Don't watch. If you don't want to watch the Sedin's Wind down their career. Don't watch!

I want to watch, but not to see them get pushed around. There is no team ID here. It's something that makes it tough to watch. So before you lecture, super fan, consider who you're preaching to. Vanisleryan
I hear your frustrations OP. This is my approach to the season...I have zero expectations for the team this year and probably next year. I tune in more to watch individual players and watch there development. Ive watched my fair share of Comets and Knights games this year too for the same reason. What excites me is Stetcher walking the line on the PP, Tryamkin crushing guys and Bo powering to the net and right before our eyes becoming the next captain of this team. I feel quite similarly. I live in Alberta now, and have payed for the NHL center ice subscription to solely watch the Canucks... But Im thinking about not renewing for next years package as i find myself fast forwarding through the PVR'd game to the goals. I've NEVER done that and have been watching since 1990. I'm the type that watches my team lose 6-0 to the final buzzer.... But I find myself falling asleep to this repetitive an ineffective playing style that's clearly obsolete in todays NHL. I also dont really care about the win/loss record. I just want identity, entertainment, and at least the hope for future success. Right now the club is failing to deliver on all three of those fronts and it's bound to create some sense of apathy within even the most die hard fans. Ill always tune in to watch the game, even when I say I don't care. I love the Canucks. I still come here almost daily in hopes of seeing a "[TRADE] Sedins to LA for 2x 1st round picks" It's honestly really sad as the entire hockey world watches and laughs at this franchise and its continual downward trend... Its like watching a baby fall out of a window in slow motion. The horror.
