orcasgonewild
2018 offseason---- Canucks sign Tavares 7 year's 70 million Why he comes here: -team needs a number one centre -captaincy once Henrik leaves - Stanley cup hungry team who's in win now mode -Young team that's experienced -he doesn't want to be a #2 centre. He wants to be #1 centre! (Rules out toronto!) *Plus Tavares said himself he doesn't see toronto in his future* - plus toronto can't afford Tavares after -Matthews marner and nylander contract extensions. -NYI are wrongly located, poor drafting experience Canucks 2019 eventual lineup: (2017 pick)Tavares boeser Baertschi horvat virtanen Sedins hansen Eriksson sutter (prospect/ufa) Juolevi stecher Edler tanev Tryamkin Gudbranson marky Demko Sedins 3 million each Eriksson 6 mil Tavares 10 mil Sutter 4.375 mil Horvat 4.5 million Baertschi 3.5 million Hansen 3 million Boeser $925,000 (entry level) Virtanen 1.5 million (show me contract) (2017 pick) $925,000 (entry level) Edler 4.5 million Tanev 4.45 mil Gudbranson 4 mil Juolevi 2.5 mil (show me contract) Stecher 3 mil (show me contract) Tryamkin 2.5 mil (show me contract) Marky 3.6 mil Demko 3.5 million (show me contract) Overall salary - $68,775,000 Salary cap ------ $70,000,000 Available cap--- $1,225,000 Of course salary could be a little off but it's realistic Average age: around 26 2019 season is the year the canucks win the cup if they get him. There's no cheesy trades, no demands to tank, just a signing that can shape the future of this franchise.
Mike Ross
I do agree that signing Tavares needs to be our priority in the off-season of 2018
numb3r 16
If tavares is willing to take only 7 mil AAV I will be amazed.
Aircool
These salaries are so far off LOL.. Horvat 4.5? LOL! Baertschi 3.5? Maybe, but we'll have to pay more I bet. Godbranson 4.0? ROFLOLMAO! Juolevi 3.0? On his ELC? Ok.... Stecher 3.0? Just no... Definitely less. Tryamkin 2.5? I wish. Demko 3.5? On his ELC as well???? It might even out a little, but I'd say you are probably net 5-6 million underestimating.

If not that just makes them cheaper, and u can convert their combined 6 mil salary somewhere else. But it's pretty close some players will take more some will take less. Aircool
@orcasgonewild ELCs are 3 years. They slide if you play in junior for a maximum of 2 years I believe. So you will be an RFA (without Arbitration rights) at either 23 or after your 3rd year in the NHL whichever comes first. It MIGHT be different for Demko, since he played a year in the NCAA... But I think that it's probably the same for him as well.

Tavares will come to Vancouver because he won't go to Toronto? What about the other 29 teams in the league?

Then the statement was that they were reasonable. Erik Godbranson (since he's the best defender in the league apparently) scares me... I don't know how many players take 1 year contracts in RFA years, but I'm going to assume that it's super rare. I think he probably has an inflated opinion about his game given the captaincy talk in Florida and the 3rd overall pick placement. I think it'll be hard to get him on a contract that isn't in the 5-6 million dollar range, which is a GIANT overpay.. I'd never sign him to anything that starts with a 4 personally, such an overrated player.

I just hope the canucks don't give him the 5 mil he's asking for and get him to lower. Cuz he hasn't shown much. Id even go to an arbitrator

BowtieCanuck
By 2018, 7 mil/year will be closer to a mid-range contract. He'll be offered 10/mil year by the runner ups to whoever he signs with.

Hairy Kneel
Aim for him make him the offer and he'll decide where he wants to go. He may choose a one year contract with a team closer to winning the cup. Who know's?
