We see what we want to see.

JB signed a 5 yr contract so we are at the 1/2 way point. I'm not here to defend his every move and am looking forward to what our roster and prospect pool looks like in 2 more seasons.

If Alf has connections and can get Bowman and Quenneville here then great. Otherwise maybe it's best to see how this 5 year plan works out before starting another.

So if the Canucks miss the playoffs this year (highly likely) and the next 2 seasons (likely) then that will be 4 of 5 seasons out of the playoffs for JB and crew and you think that he will be given a new contract..?

No, not really.  these boards are not exclusively for "Canucks".    there are fans of other teams here, fans of teams with no one to talk to lol, trolls, etc.

and regardless, there is certainly no "collective" voice, even among "we canucks".

Come on man, this is in Canucks Talk on a Canucks Forum. There may not be a collective view on how to proceed, but there is definitely a "we" when it comes to fans of this team on this board.

I would love to see our next Management team draft and develop a future  1 C

I think that a GM is constantly playing a game of chess and trying to win every transaction. Tempo has an effect and where the francise sits prospect and roster wise after 5 years is more important than wins and losses. Judging JB in a vacuum is harsh as he inherited a barren cupboard.

I think our current management team will do it. I wouldn't be against drafting another D prospect though, depending on where we sit on draft day. With Juolevi not expected to realistically make an impact for a couple of years bolstering the defence corps is a solid choice - if a future 1 C isn't available.

I also think it doesn't matter who our GM is and you'd want anyone out who isn't in full tank.

Based on what i have seen so far from our current management team,  I am NOT confident they are capable of developing a top offensive talent...

See  how they handled the last 3  -       Shinky, Virt and McCann

The last 3 what?

Shink was moved because he lacked high offense, or moderate offence and supplementary defence, to begin with. McCann = defenceman [part of the rebuild plan is rebuild the D first] and hopefully Gudbranson at age 24 has his best years in front of him. Virt remains to be seen and you already write him off.

I can't argue with your passion, but your viewpoint a prime example of what's wrong with this fan base, yet it's not entirely reflective of what's wrong with this team.

The actions of JB don't say rebuild, they say retool.  We, as a fan base, have been all over this, but I defer to Bob Mckenzie, who when asked about us rebuilding said: "what rebuild".

A retool is replacing a portion of the team to refresh it. A rebuild is replacing virtually everybody. We've already replaced 75% of the team after two years and more is coming. That's a rebuild.

Naslund as GM is the worst of the proposed options.  It's just a worse version of our current approach.

Your post made me laugh as I recalled the post game Naslunds interviews and the Swedish passion

.. Benning has some warts as far as media presence but Naslunds personality makes Benning look like Bergevin.  We have enough old boy club going on as it is and I definitely don't want to go full Oiler and lose ten or fifteen years as a result.

Can you imagine what the fans would be like right now if Linden had of stripped this team down to nothing. Who would we have on the ice. Toronto had some young talent that they kept and some players ready to move up from the farm. We had nothing other than Bo , Tanev and Marky. This team would have been so bad that we would have been lucky to win anything over the last two years.

What kind of an environment would that have been for the youth that we do have.

You do realize Shanahan was hired after Linden, and Lamarillo was hired after Benning.
