Now before you get the Rope over the tree, hear me out.

We would be freeing up just under 12 million dollars of cap space, there are a lot of 2nd and 3rd line UFA's coming up this summer, and all players are either replaced from within, or UFA's are signed, that would replace any of the loss.

Now, I know Landeskog and Jost are alot to ask for, but I think Colorado goes for it, strictly based on getting Tanev, who they desperately need. As for Jost, I think Sutter makes up for him....yes Jost had a good U20 Tournie, but they are still strong up the middle.

I do recognize that we will be loosing 2 defensive forwards, but I think the gains out weigh the negatives

UFA's that  are available are: Fisher, Stafford, Oshie, Stone, Berglund, Hanzal, Wingels, Bonino to name a few................we only have to sign one

Our future looks surprisingly strong, and a multitude of picks in the first 2 1/2 rounds......Van's 2017-1st, Van's 2017 2nd, Ott 2017-2nd, Ana 2017-2nd, SJ 2017-2nd, and our 2017 3rd

Our 2017 Roster looks young                Landeslog Horvat and Brosier                             Edler        Stecher                              Markstrom

Baertschi    Jost     Burrows/Rodin?                  Hutton      Gudbranson                         Bernier

                                                               D. Sedin    H. Sedin   Eriksson                            Sbisa       Tryamkin

                                                                Granlund    Chaput    Skille

This is without spending 1 penny of our 12 million plus cap space that was saved, and which doesn't include the 2 million we have this year, or the increase next year.......which when you add it all up makes around 17 million, which is enough to sign Horvat to a bridge deal,Tryamkin, Gudbranson and a couple of decent UFA's

Are we thin? Yes, but not any more thin than this year, but we are younger and more talented...............

Just Dreaming, but that is a quick rebuild, especially with another 14 million coming off the next year at the TDL....lol

Note........I would hope to sign a UFA center to keep Jost off the roster......wouldn't it be nice to have Jost, Joulevi, Demko, Virtanen, Brisebois and our 2017 picks all simmering in the minors/Juniors.....

PS.......move your wingers around like you want....the point is we look alot better

Flame away!

I don't like the Colorado deal. I think both teams say no. I liked your other idea for Duchene Jost better. Just my opinion though.

Why would Anaheim pay all of that for a back up? When they could just get a decent back up for much much less?

Why are we trading Hansen to Toronto haven't checked the standings but I'm pretty sure they are out of the playoff pic? Plus Hansen is my favourite player it would break my heart to see him in a Leafs jersey.

The only one of those trades that has a chance is the Hansen one and that's without considering the fact that Toronto is not a team that needs Hansen right now. Honestly, I'd like to see if we can bait a playoff team into getting a first for Hansen. He's perfect for any strong team looking to make a deep playoff run and that is willing to give up on a late 1st-rounder. That said, I'd be glad to keep Hansen as well; he's extremely valuable to this team.

Didn't we already try tanking? And we nearly fell out of a lottery position. Pretty sure if we finished last, we'd still somehow lose and draft 14th.

We would be freeing up 6 million anyways if Miller is let go to UFA. So that's already half of the cap space being cleared. Sure we might gain a couple picks in the process. But JB wasn't willing to trade Hamhuis and Vrbata despite the market need for them last year so it's highly unlikely he pulls that trigger this year unless of course we cliche a playoff berth by the TDL. And we're probably in a better playoff position this year, so I highly doubt Benning trades our only playoff experienced goaltender.

The rest of the moves seem like trades JB would be reluctant in making. Just based on the players involved (Foundational Piece). And that 2nd round pick, we would probably be the one trading a second for a early-20-something year old forward.

You do make a solid point about the upcoming-UFAs. But keep in mind... JB will probably learn from his Eriksson signing. Not saying LE is a bad player, but he would look better if he wasn't making Naslund money.

great thought an insight on your post kudos to the work ethic here.

Very creative take on this, i would roll out this right now if I were JB but I am not so can only hope this kind of wheeling dealing could be structured executed an done.

This is what Colorado has been telling teams that they want for Landeskog and they have yet to budge an inch on the price even though there are no takers as of yet:

top-level defenseman, a first-round pick, plus

They are asking even more for Duchene.

For Landy and Jost the starting price would be Hutton, Boeser and a 1st. Sakic is not going to part with 2 young guys for anything old, they are not in any rush to win in the next couple of years.

Pull that trigger. Bowser is crazy over hyped on this board. I have high hopes for him too but I'm not gonna hold my breath that he's our next Rocket Rirchard trophy winner. He has yet to play an NHL game heck he has yet to play a preseason game or prospects tournament bottom line nobody has seen him play against other NHL players or talent. The closest was last years WJC with a whopping 1g 2a I think Brocks value is about as high as Jost which might be being generous.

Landeskog has scored 53 59 and 65 points is 6'1" 210 and isn't shy to use that size. We are looking at 3rd line talent in this years draft with our pick likely landing in the #10 range. Hutton is a 4/5 d that might mature in to a 3d. If we Get Landy for Hutton and a maybe 3rd liner 3 years away from suiting up in the NHL if at all take it and run.

Yikes, very little chance of us "loosing" Tanev then.

My one wish for CDC is that people realize that the team doesn't make deals for players like Sutter or Gudbranson just to turn around and move them somewhere else.

If Sutter and Tanev would command Landy & Jost we would do it.

The real problem...
