Mackcanuck
Impressive stats for McCleod "has played in 28 games for the Avalanche this season and recorded 52 penalty minutes. He notched his first point of the season on Dec. 31 vs. the Rangers with a goal at 1:59 of the first period. Originally signed by Colorado in 2006 as an undrafted free agent, McLeod has recorded eight fighting majors this season, fourth-most in the NHL. He led the League in fighting majors in 2015-16 with 12."

mll
The Avalanche are retaining 40% of salary. He has one more year on his deal after this season and teams can only have 3 contracts with salary retention.
Ossi Vaananen
McLeod might feel the need to prove himself to his new team when we face the Preds on Tuesday. I'm wary of unnecessary truculence.

Roy was probably really pissed ROR got away. The Avs have no forwards that play any defence, and Toy knew it.

I like Biega's tenacity and willingness to hit, but slotting in Pedan would be a good move to determine if Andrey has the goods or not. If Pedan demonstrates an ability to stay with the NHL game this time, then management will know and move forward accordingly, moving out a defenseman. If Pedan still struggles, back to Utica he goes (and Whose Truck Was It would be eternally vindicated) to gain some more experience. I'd hope that Biega is being played to get him closer to eligibility for Las Vegas, as with all the youth in the pipeline, he can't be realistically looked at as a depth option. One would also have to think that Benning must be a tad annoyed with Willie's resistance to playing Rodin, Boucher, and Pedan. There comes a time when you have to give these players that the GM made moves to get, some playing time, so that the organization can have a clearer picture, especially the scouting department, as to what the various projected roster requirements are.
