At this rate if the Canucks ever win a cup then they'll probably have to retire another 10 numbers.

There's been some great players on this team but too much celebration of overall mediocrity. In my opinion the only numbers that should be in the rafters as of now are 16 and 10, the others belong in the RoH with Burrows included some day.

i agree entirely

steamer went up so we could say the team retired someone

and naslund cuz.. well i really cannot answer that one

i do think the sedins should be retired though

luongo. likely. RoH for sure if not retired

steamer and naslund should both be RoH

Luongo really?? The guy who asked for a trade out of town? Here for what, about 6 years... forget it, not a Canuck for long enough.

bure played 428 games for the canucks

luongo played 448 games for the canucks

bure is in the hhof... the 1st canuck to be so honoured

luongo is almost certain to follow .. the 1st canuck goalie to be so honoured

you think bure's jersey should be removed from the rafters ???

his best years were clearly with the canucks

and i think luongo's were as well

luongo has just had a longer career so has played more games elsewhere

I don't see him wearing a Canucks jersey on a hof induction, Bure was only a Panther for 3 or 4 seasons and a Canuck for twice that. And because he's a goalie, i don't see him going to the hall. They are a funny bunch when it comes to goaltenders getting in.

I think retiring numbers is stupid we can't change it now but that was 1 of the worst thing the NHL ever did their name would have been good enough I'd love to see another #10 or even #16 out there.

How about the Great one... i can't imagine seeing someone else wear 99.

oh really

he is very likely to finish his career 3rd overall in all time wins by a goalie

and you think he will not get into the hockey hall of fame?

that is like saying gordie howe won't get into the hall being 3rd all time in point production

as you can see i disagree strongly with you

he made his name as a canuck.. he most likely will go in a as a canuck.. but he does have some say about that. so who knows

edit: oops my mistake, forgot about jagr. he is now second, messier 3rd, howe 4th...  and yes.. jagr will get into the hhof too

Its not me its the hof. Curtis Joseph still not in or even mentioned much. Has more wins than Lui. Multiple cups and Vezina winners are the only ones to get voted in for the last 30 years or so. Lots of other goalies overlooked also. If you are a forward or offensive defence man, no problem you're voted in!

Well maybe Gretzs number deserves the recognition but still there is a part of me that don't like taking #s away maybe his picture with all his accomplishments in every arena would have been good enough.

but he will pass joseph very shortly

and will pass belfour who is in the hall

and luongo has 2 gold medals in the olympics

he'll get in

i have no doubt

he'll also end up as the goalie with the 3rd most games played (and is a good bet to pass roy to 2nd place in that category)

Yep and there is hope with Vachon finally getting inducted this year. I have a hard time seeing they will induct one guy with no Vezina or Cup to his name when the rest have multiples of those awards.

Time to introduce decimal points.

So if a guy drafted by Mtl liked Lafleur, he can wear 10.1

Another innovative concept from far away...

well since we are being creative or silly

a player can only wear a retired number

if he changes his surname to the name of the retired player

As many others have said, ROH = yes, retired number = no

One other thing though since he has been a long time Canuck and core member for so long an additional honour is to not let anyone use #14 for a few years.
