Boucher is uber talented don't get me wrong however I think he lacks dedication honestly I don't hold it against him not everyone is cut out for the NHL reminds me of Wellwood so much talent but didn't put the effort in to raise his ability.

I think conditioning is the issue for Boucher.  His poor effort at getting fit gives him an excuse for failure - 'I only failed because I wasn't in shape'.  Easier than believing he was at his best, but failed, than that he had no excuse for failing.

i hope boucher get serious about wanting to play in the nhl

i think he has learned that his conditioning was not up to par

i'd like to leave him in the ahl for the year and give him the virt treatment

let him try to make the canucks again next preseason

he has been given enough opportunities and has not been serious enough so far

I think you said, enough opportunities. If he hasn't done it by now I doubt he does. Some players simply cannot overcome that hurdle.

the door is never closed though

if he leads the comets in scoring all season

i think he deserves a fair chance to make the big club next season

but this season let's reward the younger players with call ups

unless the canucks get devastated by injury this yeah

Unless there's a change in his commitment level, the most I'd offer him is a Comets contract personally. We're going to have more prospects graduating from junior etc next year that can play that role and we don't need to waste a 50 contract space on a guy who can't get it together. Talented (at the AHL level) or not.

So what’s the deal here with Boucher? Scored another goal tonight, nice wrist shot down the wing in OT, to put him at 18 points  (9-9–18) in 17 games with Utica. Easily one of their best players this year. I imagine we’re just keeping him around so that when injuries pile up and we sell some vets at the TDL we can plug him in for some games. He doesn’t really fit the long term plan. Should canucks look to trade him out or just let him walk when his contract expires?

Boucher has been putting up great numbers in the AHL for years, it has yet to translate to the NHL and I kinda doubt it ever will

Wasn’t it more about him not having an NHL level two-way game (and also his skating issues)?

I mean, that half season in Jersey two years back he was playing 14+ minutes a night and scoring around 0.5 points a game (19 points in 39 NHL games).

He’s never really gotten that kind of opportunity again, so not surprising he never matched those numbers. But it does suggest his offense can translate to the NHL, when he’s playing decent minutes and getting a regular spot in the lineup.

Whether or not he’s deserved those chances, due to his deficiencies away from the puck, is another matter. But purely on offense, I think he might very well have NHL grade skills.

I’m curious what regular Utica viewers think about his game this season.

I haven’t watched enough Comets games to offer an informed opinion as to whether or not he’s still fairly one dimensional or if he’s developed into a more complete player.

He hasn't produced enough offense to earn a more sheltered top 6 role in the NHL. His game simply isn't suited for the bottom six.

2 goals for Boucher tonight.  24 points in 22 games with 13 goals... I feel like he is doing it without much support, especially since Goldobin was called up!

His offensive production is moot if he doesn't put in the work and raise his fitness level or shore up the defensive side of the game.
