UTICANUCK
If Travis Green should ever become the Canucks coach he will not be the first to have manned the home team bench at the Utica Auditorium. That honor goes to Rick Ley who coached the Mohawk Valley Stars in 83-84 in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. If Green makes it, unlike Ley, Green also visted the Aud as an opposing player for three seasons with the Capital District Islanders (AHL) from 90 to 93. Visting coaches at the Aud, who would also coach the Canucks, would include Willie Desjardins with the Texas Stars 2013-2014; John Tortorella with the Virginia Lancers 86-87 (ACHL); Marc Crawford with the St John's Maple Leafs, 91 to 93, and finally Vic Stasiuk who coached the 66-67 Jersey Devils of the Eastern Hockey League. Torts also was a visiting player with the Lancers in prior seasons. Two former Canucks coaches who visited the Aud as EHL players were Pat Quinn 63-64 Knoxville Knights and Mike Keenan with the 73-74 Roanoke Valley Rebels. goalie13
Given Rick Ley's not-so-stellar coaching record in Vancouver, I don't know if he is exactly the guy Green would want to follow in the footsteps of.
darkpoet
Coaches aside, i'd LOVE to see a game at the Aud. With a capacity of 3,800 and tickets for $18.00, I bet that place is seriously bumping. Probably louder than our barn
NewbieCanuckFan
I'm STILL scratching my head around the fact Torts might end up winning his SECOND Jack Adams trophy. Sullivan also seems to be doing good work. Maybe Willie doesn't have anything to work with....
