First off, please bear with me as I don't usually do this sort of thing. :P

Morning show is awful but you can listen to the interview yourself here.

I've broken it up a bit so you aren't having to tackle a wall of text. Here's what I took from it.

-Great achievement for Henrik to get 1000 points, sometimes his two way play has been overlooked over the years

-Believes the Sedins gets the credit they deserve from other GM's/hockey community but because we play out west the people out east maybe don't see their game as much
-Thinks Willie has done a good job, that the players trust the system
-Willie is still working to try and get the execution from our powerplay
-If we're going to be a playoff team we need to win our share of games on the road

-Miller has always been a competitive guy, wherever he's been he's maybe taken a little time to get adjusted but has been a part of teams that win
-Miller's been excellent and a good mentor for Jacob
-In regards to expansion they'll have their pro meetings in a couple weeks in Pittsburgh and will go over all the scenarios then
-Had conference call with pro scouts a few days ago and went through every team kind of projecting which players they're going to keep
-Will continue to have more talks as meetings continue and figure out their best course of action

-When asked about Horvat and the all-star game he believes it'll be a great experience for him to get there and rub elbows with the best players in the league
-He's a mature young man and a player who shows up and competes hard every night, has been excellent for us this year
-Was real humble about being told he was going to represent the Canucks
-When asked about Nikita he mentions their human performance department deserves a lot a credit, early on in the season they said they wanted to work with him on his fitness/day to day habits and Nikita bought into it
-Now we're starting to see the work he's done off the ice translate in his play as he gets more confident

-References Nikita's one play where he swung the net and skated up the ice with the puck to give them a scoring chance
-Nikita seems to have more confidence with the puck and making plays and it's really up to him how good he wants to be as he's got all the physical tools
-With his size and reach he's good defensively and could turn out to be a #1 pairing match-up defenseman as he gets more experience
-Doesn't see Tryamkin's development impacting their relationship with Gudbranson
-Acquired Gudbranson because he gives them a physical element on the back end, they wanted to be a harder team to play against on a game to game basis

-With Sbisa elevating his game, Nikita playing the way he can and when Erik's going it makes them a harder team to play against and teams aren't as likely to stand in front of the net and hack and whack and that's been part of their success this year
-When asked about D being an area they could trade from to get a forward he mentioned D is the one area they've got a bit of depth
-With Juolevi coming too he likes their defense going forward
-Stetcher's been excellent for a first year player
-If they decide they're going to do something, teams when they call they're looking at their depth on D and ask about defensemen and if they were to look and make a move up front it may involve one of their D

-When asked about draft picks Benning said he said he talks to all the gm's on a weekly basis and if something comes up and makes sense for them in the long term they'll do it
-Short term plan when they took over was to sacrifice some picks to add young talent to their group and they've done that with Baertschi and Sutter
-Thinks their philosophy has changed a bit now and they want to hold on to their picks because he has confidence they're going to draft and develop their players well
-Believes they have enough good young talent on their team now that as they move forward they can keep their picks and draft and develop their picks
-When asked about exceeding expectations, he said at the start of the year that they want to try and be competitive on a night ot night basis and try to play their way into the playoffs, maybe on of those wild card spots

-Injuries are always tough, it's not an excuse but losing Edler and Tanev for a month was a tough stretch to get through but they got through it and knock on wood they get healthy
-Gonna get Hansen back after the all-star break
-Had nothing to say to the experts and media who had them pegged at 65 points, was a crappy baiting question
-They believe and like the direction that they're headed in and like the development of their players
-Believes they have a lot of good young players coming in with Boeser, Demko and Juolevi and they're going to stay the course

-Powerplay is an area they talk about daily and is one of those things that when you have practice time you work on the execution of the powerplay
-With the compressed schedule they haven't had the practice time to spend working on the powerplay but Willie's been talking about maybe making personel changes to different units and is doing everything he can to try and get it going
-If they can get the powerplay to where they think it should be it'd be a huge advantage to them in winning games
-Hoping Rodin returns this season and it's been unfortunate situation with him because they wanted to get a look at him but he's had setbacks like falling on the knee in Calgary and setbacks with swelling
-Gonna keep working with him and going through rehab and hoping he's ready to go at some point so they can get a look at him to make a decision for next season

The next time someone says 'I'm afraid that JB is going to trade futures for rentals'? Slap them on the wrist.

Loved hearing the part about Tryamkin and the Human Performance Department. The off ice work he has been doing is evidenced by his on ice play, and he's definitely been one of the bright spots this season.

Again, JB couldn't be more clear about holding draft picks after moving some for NHL ready youth when he and TL first took over. The plan still makes sense to me.

Dave Pratt is annoying.

Its hard to argue that our team and prospects are in a better place now than they were three years ago. We have some legitimate top six forwards and top four defenders under 25 with more on the way. We didn't have that outside of Horvat before Benning took over.

I suspect that within three years this team will have one of the best prospect cupboards in the league and a young up-and-coming team. I still think Willie is the wrong person for the job, but I believe Benning will get us where we need to be. The only real miss in drafting so far has been Virtanen (compared to what we could have had) while he has stolen players with other picks (Boeser at 23?!!?).

Thanks for taking the time to lay that out for us.

The injuries to Tanev and Edler really were a blessing in disguise for this team. They may not have know otherwise what they had in Tryamkin and Stecher sooner instead of (possibly) much later.

Getting Hansen back is a priority because he's a guy (along with Burrows) who could get you something at the deadline. If they decide to go that route - which they should, or eventually go through what we did last year losing guys for nothing again.

If they can get the power play cranked up, we may make the playoffs. If not, no chance. You need your PP to work on the road and we're a dreadful away team...

The defence i think will look much better after we have a few more talented guys up front. I can't count how many times Tryamkin blows up a perfect breakout pass, and somebody just flubs it.
Boeser? Let's hope he's the real deal. It sure looks like it. I wanna see him paired up with Bo , and ? Him, Bo and another winger has the makings of a helluva top line.

I think Willie's here for a good time, not a long time. ::D
