Warhippy
Kind of expect the chips to start falling now after the ASG Lots of moves leading up to the trade deadline to jockey pre expansion or little to no movement at all period. Will be an interesting year for sure.
D-Money
... The guy has been great since returning from injury: 16 games played, 5 assists, +6. The Habs need the room after picking up Nesterov, but surprised that they couldn't get something for him. And yeah, with the injury to Gudbranson, and our spotty PP, I'd put a claim on him. Quantum
Canucks have no room for him. Pass. Though, I wouldn't be shocked if he gets claimed. Probably will end up in Arizona or Colorado.

I doubt they even tried to trade him. I suspect they are just hoping that he makes it through waivers, so they can hold him as D depth for the playoffs. He has been quite solid, no complaints at all. They are just ensuring that they have 7 or 8 usable D in place for the inevitable playoff injuries. Which right now means taking a risk with waivers to store one of them in the AHL. bloodycanuckleheads
Remember the good old days when every waiver-wire cast-off wasn't even close to good enough for us to pick up?

Beary Sweet
This is going to be an easy pass for Benning especially with our new found depth in the back end. Heck, I can't wait till Guddy is healthy. thats when things get interesting...
Sedinyoureyesontheprize
I say pick him up. He's a better option as the 6h defensemen than Biega and Larsen are at this point of the season. We are about to go into the stretch and we barely have a 6th d worthy of the spot. Quote Habs Waive Zach Redmond By Brian La RoseJanuary 30, 2017 HabsWorld.net -- With Nikita Nesterov being acquired late last week and the potential returns of Greg Pateryn and Andrei Markov in the near future, the Habs have made a move to clear the pending logjam, placing Zach Redmond on waivers. Redmond signed with the Canadiens back on the first day of free agency, inking a two year deal worth the league minimum salary in both seasons. After a decent preseason where he scored twice in four games, he broke his foot in practice early in the season which caused him to miss 18 games. His return to the lineup in late November came just before Pateryn broke his ankle so as a result, Redmond has been a regular for a good chunk of the last six weeks, save for a stint from Ryan Johnston who struggled mightily. In 16 games with Montreal, he has five assists while averaging 12:19 of ice time per game. He routinely has been the sixth defender and head coach Michel Therrien has been hesitant to use him in the third period of most games which has played a lot of pressure on Shea Weber and Jeff Petry to log heavy minutes. Accordingly, it’s not too surprising that he finds himself the odd man out now. It’s worth noting that Redmond’s cap hit of $612,500 is actually below the league minimum salary for next season. As a result, it wouldn’t be too surprising if a cap-strapped team were to submit a claim. If he clears, he’ll head to St. John’s, a place he’s familiar with having played there in 2013-14 back when he was with the Winnipeg Jets. I say take a shot at this guy and see if you can improve our d. And another positive is his cap hit. http://www.nbcsports.com/video/zach-redmond-doubles-avalanches-lead-over-chicago-blackhawks?utm_network=twitter&utm_post=4758105&utm_source=TW %40NHLonNBCSports&utm_tags=srm[hockey%2Carticle]

Whale Tail
Claim him than trade him back with Burrows to get the extra 2nd off their hands.

Gudbranson is likely gone for the year. And Hutton is probably out for 2-4 more weeks. IMO, the ranking for who would best fill the 6th position on a temporary basis is: 1) Redmond 2) Biega 3) Larsson 4) Subban 5) Anyone else 6) Your ass If Redmond plays well, it may allow us to move Sbisa at the deadline. If he doesn't, just waive him again. But it's probably all moot, as I expect him to be claimed by one of the teams below us.
