(Proposal) Fire willie and hire...

Recommended Posts

KEN HITCHCOCK

best coach out there rn and won't out up with the teams play. He'll make everyone work no matter if your a veteran or a newbie. He'll out together great lines and will work well with Doug Jarvis.

Hitchcocks stats he has 781 wins at the NHL level!!! What more could u ask for??

You wanna get people in the building tell them you've got an experienced coach and you got boeser and this year's draft pick coming in next year. That will put butts in seats and actually put the team in a new direction.

Plus he has experience with stars like tarasenko, he'll know what to do with virtanen boeser horvat Baertschi stecher cuz it's all in experience.

Willie needs to be fired over his player deployment decisions. Why does he keep playing Phillip Larsen? What is with his insistence on playing Jason Megna as a 2nd line forward? Hansen comes back and instead of getting the Sedins going again, he plays with Sutter and Grandlund. Starting Horvat as a 4th line centre this season. Refusing to give Subban or Pedan any chance to show what they can do in a game. Why hasn't Reid Boucher gotten a sniff of ice time since we claimed him off waivers??? This team only has 6 or 7 players that have any capability of putting the puck in the net which was all Boucher did in jr and the AHL, but somehow both Megna and Gaunce stay in the line up with a combined 11 pts in 80 Games. Try and tell me that a few games no the press box wouldn't do them some good?

Willie is a likeable players coach and the guys play hard for him, but is Willie playing the right guys?

I think the only means to justify keeping Willie is if Benning doesn't let him set his own lineup since he clearly cant be trusted to do so.  Probably a better bet to just hire a real coach who can identify an NHLer.

A lot of people around here didn't realize the reasoning behind that nor the fact that despite where Megna was in the lineup it didn't change the fact that he was the 12th man (and overall more in the range of the 16th).

He was the first guy out when Hansen returned, which ought to tell you something.

Hansen wound up with the Sedins in short order last night.

The Horvat as a '4C' is a red herring that means literally nothing.

I don't agree with all of Desjardins' decisions - particularly around goaltending - and I'm not a fan of Larsen and would rather see Biega in the lineup, but even there, I don't know if Biega is 100%, I don't know if they're simply looking to pump and dump Larsen (I doubt he's in the plans very much further)....

Gaunce - if you don't realize how good Gaunce has been in his role and think he belongs in the press box I don't think you have a very good take on the role of a fourth liner, or what the expectations of a rookie 4th liner should be.

Boucher is not fit enough - if you watched the game he played, it was obvious.

While some of the criticisms/complaints around Desjardins are fair enough - at the same time, many of them are pretty easy to understand if people look a little deeper than their original, not necessarily more informed, perspectives.

I appreciate the fact that your criticisms are hockey related - and not simply calling the guy an idiot, or ignorantly ripping into his 'twitching' etc, but I still think the general pitchfork crowd don't really have nearly as much grounds to stand on as they believe they do.

Yes - he's likeable - his players generally play very hard for him - and his systems have been quite good imo, with his players buying in and the team probably enjoying more success than might be expected in context.

Most people were projecting a 65pt team and mocking the idea that it could be in the running for a wildcard spot.  If you factor in that WD has been without a pair of top 4 D all year, and his best forward for 2/3 of the season, what exactly were people expecting?

We have a strange fan base. When we win WD is still doing something wrong when we lose its his fault we can't squeeze gold out of well you know.  The first half year with Torts we has posts proclaiming him the coach of the year.

WD is in for the duration of the season like it or not...Our home record is an indication of how much impact his decisions can create and it's not his fault the Sedins have had a hard time playing with anyone not named Burrows or flash in a pan Carter with some props to Hansen.

Sorry man if by "best forward" you're referring to Hansen, I think your credibility ends there. Top 4 fwd on the team? Absolutely. And on any given night he could have the best game. But to call Hansen our teams best forward, you've lost me. Horvat and Henrik say Hi.

Sorry but a .5 ppg guy that brings everything that Hansen does is easily in the running - and imo the only guy that may have him edged at this point is Bo, largely due to his emergence this year.  Sutter belongs in the running as well imo - elite faceoff guy that's also in the .5 ppg / all situations type player.  If Hansen 'lost' you I think that says more about your perspective than it does Hansen.  I love Henr1k and all, but he's no longer this team's best forward.
