Please be SELLERS at the deadline

Burrows( can re sign him next year) Gaunce( not sure who would want him), Edler( please waive your no trade) Miller waives to a contender, Biega for anything, and in a perfect world THE TWINS taking back a bad contract ie clarkson, bolland with no more than one year term or hopefully UFA. I'd listen to offers for Hansen but it would have to be an overpayment!

If we don't want to risk losing one of baertschi/granlund we would need to unload Hansen or another forward by TDL. Agreed. We can't sit still.

And for those who say NTCs can't be traded we did pretty well with Garrison and Bieksa. It's not impossible

Your undervaluation of Gaunce and Biega is noticeable. Gaunce has done well in his two games back in Utica and his full potential is not yet realized. Biega is a workhorse and I believe he inspires this team, especially the defensemen. Regarding Edler, I'm not really a fan of trading him, but it does make sense to trade one defenseman due to our surplus in that area. I want to keep the twins until they retire for leadership and guidance.

Will do Garthsbutcher. Thank you very much for your continued support and input on the team, we often eagerly await our next instructions from you here at Rogers.

Cheers,

Gaunce scored again tonight.  He's dominating offensively down there.  Maybe Willie needs to give Gaunce a more offensive role, or at least the freedom to play offensive minded?

I'd say so. He's clearly got the ability. He just needs to know that he can score in the NHL as well.

Keep in mind that Benning has built a team where he has veterans in responsible positions to shelter his developing players.  I wouldn't expect any changes to that structure.

Sedin Sedin Eriksson/Hansen

          Sutter

Edler Tanev

Miller

Since players like Granlund, Horvat, Baertschi, Stecher, Sbisa, Tryamkin have been developing well, this structure isn't needed as much as it was.  But it is still important to have good anchors in these positions for Benning as the Sedin's no longer fill the top line role.  I think that we can see the end of this is coming.  Horvat is showing that he will be able to step up.  I'd honestly like to see how Eriksson does with Horvat.  In 2 years we could see a top line like Baertschi, Horvat, Eriksson.  Or even Eriksson, Horvat Boeser a year after that.  That line will have to be very solid moving forward.

We are hearing talk from Benning and Linden that Edler and Tanev are not likely to be moved.  Also, Miller has played so well, I can't imagine that they don't re-sign him.

From the forward lines, I could see Hasen traded or exposed because Granlund and Baertschi are showing that they have a future with the team.  Burrows is trade bait as a rental.  He has been hot and cold and what he does over the next couple of weeks will seal his future.  On the back end, they're going to have to decide between exposing Sbisa and Gudbranson.  We have seen that Sbisa can do a good job if he is paired with a solid partner but Gudbranson's pedigree I think keeps him protected.  He had played many of his games with a wrist injury this year.

Long story short, Hansen, Burrows and Sbisa are players who might get moved imo.

Alf has been calling for tfading away guys at TDLs for three years with JB.  The first two TDLs and JB did nothing, allowing all our UFAs to leave for zero return.  Why should this TDL be any different?

There's a president for the consequences of not pulling the trigger at the trade dead line here.

We can't lose guys for nothing again.

JB might be going for three strikes and he's out at his TDLs.  God, just think of all the extra prospects we would have if JB traded away our UFAs at the last two TDLs, and not traded away picks?  Could it be 10 or even 20?

And then think about what previous gm's let go... we would be a lot better with getting talent back for sure.

We have never been sellers at the trade deadline. Every year threads like these pop up about how we are going to trade all these UFA's and show up at the draft with 30 picks and rebuild our organization overnight.

It's never happened and it's not going to start this year.

To be a seller, you'll need to have something you're willing to sell that buyers will want to buy at a decent price. Given all the NTC's and the NMC's and the injuries and the not-so-good team stats (the Canucks have the THIRD-worst team +/- in the league right now) and the unwillingness to include young players or draft picks, not sure we'll get good prices.
