[Trade] Canucks trade Alex Burrows to Senators for Jonathan Dahlen

Recommended Posts

To me, Burr is the perfect embodiment of a Canuck. I never have seen a day where he would get traded. Seeing him being traded away made me tear up, I hope the dragon slayer slays those dumb Leafs!

Good luck Burr, hope to see you soon! :)

Sophomore slump of D men means all aspects of their game. I don't see how Hutton could possibly have such an amazing first season to never have a good one again. If he's still here we'll see that magic from 2014.

he had an amazing start to his first season.  His play dropped dramatically in the 2nd half.  His defensive play was bad from day 1 though.  I like Hutton, don't get me wrong, and I appreciate his puck moving abilities, but he's expendable with the emergence of Stetcher, Tryamkin and the drafting of Juolevi

Huttons not in a slump.

He averaged .33 PPG last year

He's on pace for .3 PPP this year

And actually his +/- is better this year.

So I'm not sure where all this slump talk is coming from.

Stecher's stats are almost identical and he's being praised.

I don't think anyone would doubt Hutton's offensive upside

Too much focus on his stats.

Watch his play in his own end and you'll learn all you need to know.

People just expected him to take the next step. He is doing good for being his sophomore year.

If he gets traded it would need to be for a good return.

Burrows is still a solid pro and his value to a team that is playoff bound is more than you think. They get a hard working vet who still has some miles left in him.

I love Burrows and all he has done for us,  and I am sad to see him go...  but return 1 for 1 JB did very well.  I agree he has more to give and I will be cheering for the Sens now in the east for sure

Keep smacking yourself in the face if you think WD is a solid NHL caliber coach there bud,  maybe you will wake up.

I don't know, me personally I think he has done an admirable job all season the team has played hard and has rarely been completely out of games. This is especially good since i don't think that the canucks roster is that chalked full of good NHL talent.

Anyway, I think he has done a decent job so far.

I attribute that to the revolving door on D this year, and in any case, his struggles haven't burned the team as he's been on the ice for less goals against this year. (so far)

I'm not worried about him at all. The situation will stabilize back there over the next year or two after the team really figures out who's who moving forward and what the set
partners are going to be.

WD made the playoffs with the same stale squad Torts couldn't win a game with after December.

I'm not blasting Willie here, but that's kind of like saying you get a burst of energy after gulping back a red bull.

That season was a total anomaly and actually hurt this team because it fooled Benning into thinking we could actually be a perennial playoff team during the rebuild.

Not the same squad.

Willie had Vrbata having a career year and Miller and Lack playing very well that year.

Torts also had a rash of injuries that year.

Torts had the one of the worlds best goaltenders and Kesler instead of Vrbata

So your telling me that was the diff between bottom dweller and playoff? Torts had Luongo and Kesler arguably a better squad then WD had.

Vrbata had 30 goals and 63 points under Willie, Kesler had 43 points.

And again, look at the man games lost that season under Torts. Makes a huge difference.

Not trying to defend him, I hate him as a coach, but to say Willie has done better as a straight across comparison isn't really fair.
