I was worried he would never see another shift after his early gaffe in the first period.  Glad Willie went right back with him on Bo's line and it almost paid off.  He had a couple of good scoring chances, a couple of good passes, and a couple of mistakes.  All in a games worth for a rookie, he'll learn and he'll be better for it.

It is excellent that Willie is giving him some time in the games and he is probably already learning a ton. That said, he will probably benefit even more if they keep him developing in the AHL for 2-3 years or so and come back with a solid 200ft game.

3 Years is too long. Maybe 1 more year. Even Detroit don't cook their players till 25.

Yes, same as Guance.

Hoo boy. If Utica can make the playoffs and add Gaunce and Goldy, they'll be an incredible team all of a sudden. Not to mention maybe Stecher as well.

Why isn't he insta good though!? In all fairness Baertschi and Granlund didn't make impacts at the NHL level until 23 so we should at least give him all of next year to develop.

I see some great and some questionable decisions. Too early to tell but it looks like he doesn't often make the same mistake twice. I've seen him use the boards to get the puck out effectively too. He's such a good skater that if he really applies himself on the for e-check he could cause neutral zone turn overs that result in odd man rushes.

Stecher hasn't been papered - only Gaunce and Goldy.

Darn. I thought since he had played there already, he might've been too.

No, and I doubt JB would really want him in the AHL playoffs after stepping up from the college schedule to a full NHL season. I think Stecher needs all the recuperation time he can get this summer.

He sometimes doesn't know where to be on the ice but he's still learning his new teammates and 'system'.

Hopefully he gets bulkier. He's way too skinny

Curious if you've heard anything about Goldobin in the Russian media? Do we have a Yakipov on our hands or is this kid a good pick up?

Goldobin has very positive feedback in the Russian media. Just found interesting interview with Nikolay and his agent Igor Larionov, taken when Goldobin still played for SJS. I will post later, need some time to translate...

Thats great to know, thanks. Sadly my Russian pretty much is limited to subway signs! (I tried to learn some on a trip I made with my dad a few years ago).

Thank you @Stierlitz for translating the interview!!

I like how this kid answered his questions so far. I like the fact that he grew up liking Crosby and Ovechkin, but he's trying to be a unique player himself and not trying to emulate the way any player plays.

Can't wait for the other parts.:)
