2009cupchamps
I actually agree Hutton should be traded and protect Sibsa. Joulevi will more than replace Hutton but you can't replace Sibsa Physical play. Expose Biega and Dorsett.
Inge34
I just want to see the young guys get better and become better finishers. I would like to see Markstrom become the number 1 and be good. I want to see less injuries to our team. I kinda hope we move a couple d-men(Tanev, Hutton and I have no hate for either player, just think they fetch more in a trade) for either picks or young forward prospects. Then we can protect, Guddy, Edler(would love to trade but he won't let it happen) and Sbisa. Keep Stech, and promote Pedan and/or Subban. Then if Joulevi sticks that would give us options. I think we still have organizational depth at the D position which may increase at the draft. I want us to win the lottery next season( and by win, I mean move up in the draft not down). Nothing too crazy just some small victories and hope.

True, but there was that Mackenzie suggestion that the Canucks were (maybe?) shopping Hutton to get a top six (young) forward. Even JB has said (on several occasions) that he would look to trade a defense man if it meant getting a top six forward. I don't want to trade Hutton, but wouldn't be shocked if JB did that. cbdoubleu
I think Hutton will be as out best defenseman behind Tanev next season (unless we trade Tanman). Hutton also looked and performed better on the powerplay than Stecher did (especially once teams had Stecher scouted), and he spent most of his time on the 2nd unit. He's bigger, he's mobile, he's got good hands and a calm demeanor. For me one of the biggest misconceptions that has to be addressed is this idea that Stecher is a top pairing defenseman with PP1 QB capability. I'm not a fan of Stecher at all. He has such a unusual deliberate passing motion too that just seems so telegraphed.

Let that team have some success. Let these guys develop a winning culture together in the AHL then bring them up next year when we expect to be a little more competitive. I realize this is not realistic, but since we are going to be bad next year I'd rather see these guys have some success together. Play big minutes and be the go to players all year. 48MPHSlapShot
So we're talking about trading Hutton again? So, considering that most of CDC wants to see Tanev traded as well, we're all okay with literally half of our blueline being gone? K.
Salacious Crumb
I just hope the world gets Syria, Israel and North Korea sorted. It's more likely the Canucks make the playoffs next year but I'd rather have peace.

I think he was saying that when the plan was still playoffs last season. It's more of a rebuild mode now and Boeser/Goldobin have a chance at top 6. higgyfan
It will be so nice to have a young group of players that can go to Utica without passing through waivers. They can develop together and be rewarded with injury callups as the season wears on. We have some smaller prospects that need time to grow and develop. Utica is the best place for them. I don't want to see young guys being rushed into the NHL before they're ready and if it means Chaput and Megna, so be it.
kingofsurrey
I wanted to see Willie Fired .... - got it Now I want to see a new first line....... Want a new Powerplay 1 Unit. ruilin96
Steady Improvement continues for Bo Horvat, Sven Baertchi, Markus Granlund Brock Boeser becomes one of NHL's top rookies and hopefully a nominee for the Calder Finalist Nikolay Goldobin shines offensively and show signs of potential first liner NHLer Jonathan Dahlen (whether he plays in the AHL, SHL or the NHL) shows signs that can be a top 6 NHL goal scoerer in the future Jake Virtanen surprises everyone at camp and able to keep on track with his development Olli Juolevi has a strong training camp and gets his 9 games before being sent back to the OHL for one more season Adam Gaudette signs with the Canucks after his college season is over and able to come in and produce right away near the end of the season Troy Stecher continues to improve his game both offensively and defensively Ben Hutton gets more than 30 pts on the blueline Thatcher Demko steals the show in Utica and is one of the best goalie in the AHL and ready for NHL back-up the season after The player we select at #5 proves to be a steal and could potentially be a 1st line center/PP Defenseman (depends who we take) Sign some free agents on July 1st to a 1 year contract as a trade bait for the deadline to pick up more draft picks Another top 5 pick next season
Moosecanuckle08
Boeser forces his way onto the team and shows everyone that the hype is real. Virtanen shows up to camp in phenomenal shape and takes a huge step forward in his development. Makes the team and scores 15 plus goals while playing rugged in your face hockey. Quenches some of the blood thirsty virtanen haters. Horvat, sedin, baertchi, boeser, granlund all score 20 goals or more. Juolevi makes the team and has a great all round year. Tkachuk fan boys agree juolevi was the right pick. Our draft pick this year has a good camp but ultimately heads back to Jr and lights it up. Goldobin reaches a new level bringing the offensive flare canucks fans are dying for. Despite the canucks taking a huge step forward we miss out on the playoffs but win the lottery draft. Is this too much to ask for? Lol
Nooks
Megna and Chaput never see a Canucks uniform. Mittlestadt at the draft Bo signed long term Gudbranson signed reasonably Keep Gaunce at the expansion draft Do everything possible to get Tram back after his Russian vacation. The current roster takes steps forward.
Honky Cat
First and foremost,I would like to see the Canucks play an attacking form of hockey....I'd rather see them take the initiative and try and win the game, than be a team that sits in the weeds, waiting for the other team to turn it over...If were going lose (which we will, quite a bit next season)..we should at least come out swinging, and let the chips fall where they may. HomeBrew
Top 5 hopes for 2017-2018 into the summer of 2018. Emerging youth on the team to all have career bests. Virtanen to stay in AHL and put up ppg pace with Dahlen. Sedins retire at the end of the year on a high note. We win the 2018 lottery and draft Rasmus Dahlin. Canucks sign Evander Kane on July 1st. Junkyard Dog
A top 3 pick would be great, if not at least top 10. If youth continue to improve the season is a success no matter the where we are in the standings. Expectations are low though. Selling off the vets we can and acquiring more future assets should be another priority. It would help our rebuild out even more significantly.
