[Signing] Maple Leafs re-sign Nikita Zaitsev

Cherry is such a tool towards Euros. Zaitsev was coming off a concussion.

Yeah, that Cherry rant about Zaitsev was idiotic.

Babcock had limited options this year with a blueline that needs more work.  I guess he's an idiot for mistaking Zaitsev as his best option to play big minutes and handle the highest defensive zone starts on that blueline - if only he knew what Cherry knows (the Laffs would still be a joke).   But, but "plus minus".....Oblivious.

This is a pretty manageable cap hit for a guy that is probably best suited as a middle pairing D with upside (and not your primary matchup D).  That's something Leafs management need to address.  The term is risky but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Babcock has a far better take on this player than the CBC's stale-dated prattle jockeys.

7 year contract after 1 year in the league? Jesus...

Fitting that had we offered Tryamkin a 7 year extension at 4.5M per year (instead of a measly 2yr extension), I bet Tryamkin and wife would have had no problem assimilating :)

100% speculation and personal opinion.

Tryamkin was a headache from the day he refused to go to Utica for a conditioning stint. Foreshadowing for things to come.

Yes, 99% of the content on these forums is 100% speculation and personal opinion.  What's your point?

Too many Canucks fans kick our players to the curb the moment they leave the organization.  Tryamkin was never a headache.  He just knew what he could do on the ice.  He showed it once he began playing.  We NEED more confident players like that in our organization.  Confident players (borderline cocky players) are typically the ones that do incredible things on the ice (ie. Kane, Laine, Ovechkin, Subban, etc).

7 years... Big investment in a d man that hasn't shown he worth the contract yet.  Guess this is the type of deal needed to keep a Russian D man from bolting back the the KHL for 3 years.

Ya but he can just "retire" and bolt, so nothing really changes.

Your post is part of that 99%
