saw234
This is a blockbuster proposal but would benefit both teams greatly in my opinion. I'll get right to it. To Edmonton: Ilya Kovalchuk To New Jersey: Jordan Eberle, 4th Edmonton did not get the playoff production that they needed from Eberle and rumours are swirling about his future in Edmonton. Trading him and going all in on a championship like they will want to do makes sense and it makes sense for Kovalchuk to agree to go there for a chance at a cup and to play with McDavid. Could you imagine that as a line? New Jersey gets to scoop another young scorer from Edmonton and get something significant in return for Kovy which is a nice bonus for the Devils. Eberle and Hall are reunited. 4th rounder for balancing. What do you think?
Where's Wellwood
Would largely depend on how many years and at what price for Kovalchuk. Part of the reason they need to dump Eberle is that Draisaitl and McDavid will need big money contracts in a couple years. As well, I still think Edmonton needs another dependable D besides Larson. That'll cost money too.
NUCKER67
What do I think? Why are you trying to make EDM better?

Adarsh Sant
If Kovalchuk has a manageable contract then possibly. But if he gets something like 7 or 8 million per year EDM will have no cap for McDavid and Draisaitl. Plus EDM won't be the highest bidder for him. And he has already stated that he wants to play on the east coast. So probably not.
Zhukini
I didn't follow him in the KHL, but Kovy was always the type of player that liked to drive the play himself, and didn't pay much attention to structure, not that he needed to. EDM is just coming out of that do anything you want phase. I don't think he'd do well with McDavid, just like Hall didn't, but with him and Lucic on the wings, with nuge centering them, would give them the best offence in the league. However Eberle holds very little value, and the fact that he would actually have to live in Edmonton would turn Kovy off.
